Battlefield 3 not coming to Steam

Now some of you will be disappointed with this info, while others more than likely wont even care. There are pros & cons to this situation, no matter how the decision comes out. Also sounds like Gamestop is creating a new editorial dept to their hq now or something. Never heard of em reporting any kinda gaming news like this, but then again, I RARELY ever go into a Gamestop store in the 1st place anymore.
 
Just came only to report this. Unfotunately I still have to get this game because I love it so, but its dreadfully obvious why EA is pulling out of steam. They want to monopolize the titles they own, making them only available at the price EA wants them at. For example, you still have to pay full price for all their 1st party titles, even though theres no middleman to pay.

Don't let that make you think I'll ever buy anything else from Origin OHHOHOHOHO.

I want to meet the guy who made this decision, shake his hand, smile, look right in his face and say: "You're an effing IDIOT"

I actually like the idea of it not being on steam,


The previous battlefields wernt and they were enjoyable even through disc dl.
 
I'm all crusaded out. Does anyone remember a period in gaming history that has been more ripe with egregious decisions causing the level of dissent among the player-base that we have been witness to the last few years?

Haha, regardless just like when you buy Call of Duty games or Valve games from Gamestop or Bestbuy, you have to register them on steam. When you get an EA game from now on, it's going to require you to sync the game into your Origin account regardless you want to or not. I already have Deadspace 2 in my origin account. This doesn't bother me in the least bit, I just hate having a bunch of programs on my computer.

I give the hacking community 2 weeks from BF3s release to fabricate a low memory intensive workaround that will piss EA off.

That and if I buy from gamestop EA won't be getting %100 of the price tag even IF gamestop doesn't have a sale on EA titles, because like I said they want to monopolize their developers' games, buying form a third party and registering on Origin solves this problem.

Too bad for battlefield then- not picking it up. I may have a go at it with a store-bought box, not sure yet.

EDIT: Wait, you have to sync it to an origin account? Not happening.
 
I was planning on getting it for XBox anyways, until I saw that it's release date is so close to Skyrim's. *sigh*
 
Meh, it'll probably pop up on Impulse or Direct2Drive. It frankly sounds like a play to dislodge Steam as king of Digital Distribution.
 
i will just buy a hard copy, id happily use EA software if they knew how to make anything user friendly, i love steam and will probably continue to buy many games from it that are available, if Orgins software is decent then i may use it.

also above simply buying call of duty for any reason from anyone hurts the gaming industry because u give more activision more money and giving call of duty more titles sold statics just further strengthens the stereotype that call of duty is a good game.

Pro tip when you give bad companies mon ey, they continue to do what they do, when you stop giving them money, they change their ways to win back there consumer base...or go out of business its how capitalism works

Why are you people so pissed at Origin and not be getting the game at all? Who cares if it's on Origin or not, I agree with Naku. Besides, battlefield's battlelog that's going to be integrated with Origin is looking preeettyyy sweet right now. Regardless you get a hard copy or not, the disc will just save you the long download, it's going to be registered with Origin. Even Direct2Drive, Amazon, Newegg, etc.
 
Well I refuse to use impulse. That isn't going to happen. Using the EA download manager thingy isn't THAT big of a deal, but I hate having so many programs. Skyrim is honestly a higher priority at this point, so idk what I will do. =/
 
What it comes down to for me is....I play 15+ games regularly. These are all integrated into Steam. Origin would be fine if I was a new gamer with no friends and just an EA game or two. But having to launch a separate program just to play one game, not being available to the hundreds of people that I'm friends with on Steam. It's simply inconvenient.
