Ive started thinking of purchasing a 360 solely for playing Halo Reach and Gears of War but with recent news that Windows 8 may be allowing people to play xbox 360 games on their PC I may actually just wait for this to come out instead of getting a 2nd console to go with my PS3.

Should I wait for Windows 8 or get a 360. The 360s still seem quite expensive to only get if im gonna only use it for halo and gears. Maybe not even gears as halo seems to be better....

Basically im coming to terms with getting xbox for halo since microsoft deems it not necessary to release halo games for the PC anymore after releasing Halo and Halo 2 for PC which is a damn shame.

Also when I saw this I figured it might be fun to try Reach...

Yeah, people use the Forge to come up with all kinds of mini games. It can be fun if you have a creative group of friends.

I liked the campaign in Reach (I just played through it last week in fact) but the MP wasn't for me. I figure the longer you wait the longer it will take to catch up skill wise to the players that already play the game all the time.

If you can find a good deal (or if you're ok with how much it costs right now) I'd say go for it. Just be ready to deal with the stereo-typical xbox live problems, they were in every Reach match I tried to play. That's more of a player interaction issue to be honest.

Xbox 360. I've owned plenty of consoles, including all of the ones this gen and I prefer the 360 over all of them. So much fun to be had, and there's plenty of other games to play along with Gears and Halo. To be honest, I enjoyed Halo 3 more than Reach, but they are both fun. I can't wait until Gears 3 comes out.

Gears 3 will be awesome. So many good titles coming soon, I don't see why you'd wait if you already got the cash.

mostly because Im not sure i want to shell out 250 bucks just to play Halo and GoW3... since those are the only 2 xbox games that interest me. All the other games I dont care for or I already own or will own for the PC.

Now I see the problem. All depends on if you're willing to wait it out I guess. Personally I only use my Xbox once/twice a month but it's still nice to have. You could probs a get a cheap one on ebay or at a game store.

Consoles are now considered pretty outdated now with the release of bf3, and soon Sony and Microsoft will announce their new consoles... and I don't see the point in spending the 200 bucks plus + 120 just to play 2 games

Eh, I bought my Xbox 360 4GB Slim (Huge mistake) and Reach at the same time. Honestly. Great game. Loved the story. The Multiplayer is pretty good. You level up, so you'd be playing against people of similar level. So that's not bad. Halo 3 feels clunky compared to Reach (to me). Gears is a great game, it's fun. But honestly, unless you have a number of friends it's not worth it. I haven't played my 360 for about.. 4 months. It's not even plugged in. It's sitting in a drawer collecting some dust. Even if the worlds best game came out, and it was 360 only, I wouldn't pull my 360 out.
With Nintendo releasing news on their next console, I would expect Sony and Microsoft to release some news. If they have, I just haven't been keeping track of consoles.
If you're just getting it for ONE game, or just possibly TWO games, it's not worth dropping 299.99.. The 4GB slim is not worth the 199.99. If you owned the 360 a year or two ago, it would have been worth paying the money. But it's just silly to spend the money on it for something that won't be relevant for that much longer. Only way it would be worth it to me is maybe 100 if it came with Reach. But then you have to pay the XX for silly Xbox Live.

I wonder if the refurbed consoles for 150 bucks are worth it though....

Ok I have narrowed down my choices and its either pay 100 bucks to send in my brothers RROD original xbox which he doesnt want anymore since he is getting a PS3 now and he is tired of it.

OR

Go get a refurbished xbox 360 for 150 dollars from like Gamestop....

Something like this:

Which would you guys recommend?

Save up and buy a brand new one, there's a ton of reasons why you wouldn't want to buy a used system, especially a 360

I think im just gonna get the xbox 360 4GB refurb version for 180 bucks since I can just use a 16 GB flash stick to add memory to it

If you want to buy a used console your best bet is ebay or craigslist where you can get it -$100 sometimes. Especially the xbox because they RROD often.

I want to play reach as well, but I'm going to wait for Windows 8 ($100 at lauch prolly) but sending in that RROD'd xbox would be the same price, so in your position, unless you were planning on getting Windows 8 for another reason on top of 360 games, I'd send in the xbox.

THe problem with waiting for windows 8 is who knows when the launch is and i still dont even know if i want to upgrade to windows 8. Not to mention how much it will cost...

I actually just decided to sell my 250 GB Slim. Need money for games and it just doesn't make sense anymore to segment my game purchasing money. I am just a PC guy and need to recognize that lol. I will miss Rock Band but as I only play it anymore when I go to my friends house who has it on ps3 it is not a huge deal. I have a Ps3 that I use for blue rays and netflix/hulu and my flat screen also has those apps so I don't need it for that either. I tried to play a few games today on it and just felt like I got more enjoyment out of the pc with mouse and keyboard than I ever did with a controller. Some peeps are good with a controller I just never had a lot of desire to put in the time to get used to it.

Selling it for $350 if anyone is interested. Has 8 or 9 games along with drums, guitar, and keyboard for rock band 3. Comes with rockband 2, 3, and beatles. I can only ship it within the US of course. It has the box and all items it came with and is in great shape. I never got around to registering it so you can do that and have the warranty.

You'll have to buy $30 worth of DLC for Reach if you want to play online matchmaking :cursing: I'm still angry about that, I can play COD online without the dlc but why not Halo.

I played a few matches of Reach without the DLC, and I was borrowing the game from my brother-in-law. It really didn't let you play?

It doesn't let you play ALL of the map playlists. If the playlist has a map from the DLC it'll give you a message saying such and will tell you to go DL it or select something else. Also if you have the 4GB slim you can't play a certain gametype. I can't remember what it is. But it requires a hard drive. aka NOT the 4GB slim with the added flash drive memory..

EDIT: It's Co-op that you can't play because you don't have a hard drive. Forgot XD
