I really hope they dont do the one name thing. That's just stupid and we might as well just ban anyone who enters our server with a bad name then. I really hope they allow you to change your soldier name and origin name on the fly like on Steam.

But... why does it even matter if you can't make more than one character.... I think this is a good feature. Every character has like 3 years worth of unlocks to unlock, why would you want to make a new soldier and start ALL over again? The only reason why I'd think someone would make a new soldier is to change the name... but now you can change your persona name and it changes your bf name as well. I think that's freaking awesome. I swear, some people don't appreciate things and rage for any little thing

ZOMG WTF OMG WHAT THE HELL?!!?!? WHY?!1 IM SO MADDDD TOO MANY PROGRAMS TO USE ON MY COMPUTER!! Origin uses 80mb's
of system memory. I'm 110% sure this would NOT be a problem unless you have 512MB of ram in your system. I actually like origin's interface over steam's.

Yeah Origin is stupid like that. Some people have names nothing like their current names because they got EA download manager a long time ago and signed up with one name and thats what the are stuck with now.

I don't know if I'm missing something, but I don't think you can.
You can add persona's linked to your account, but persona's are for specific games. Even if you make a Persona your "Main Account", Origin seems to be linked to your "EA ID", which doesn't look like it can be altered, or a new one created.

If that is the case, I do wonder how many of us in =(eGO)= will have to end up changing our names. I know my EA ID is definitely different than my Burns name. (My EA ID is DragginKnee)

I really can't imagine EA having such a restriction on BF3, especially with it being based on the same engine as BC2. I really hope they allow you to choose whatever name you wish.

I'm hoping the name limitation was used in alpha mainly for accountability issues. Whether those issues were good or bad.
Some people might have a hard time leveling in BC2, but I've found that much like an mmorpg, after you get that first character to the max level, the next are easy as pie. Which is actually not very easy...a good pie takes some skill.
Either way, it's super easy leveling after that; at least it was for me and my friends. One eGO member, Calwen, has a reason for making new characters: bans.
He frequently has his soldier names banned from servers because they think he is too good and is a hacker. I've played with him for a few years now. He's just that good. Now he has to suffer at the hands of some retarded admin with an itchy ban hammer.
"Tell him to play on eGO servers!"
Nah that's ok. It was kind of annoying when eGO stood with Hardcore Rush servers because we always got tired of the snipers that were camping. Yea it's hardcore and it's meant to be a challenge. Woop dee doo. We won't find it fun tho. No one pushes. Teams just sit there like it's The Great War and all the middle ground is No Man's Land.
So in the likely event a similar scenario happens with BF3, we like to keep our options open for server choices. Making new names is fun and also helps with letting our friends try out the game on their own without messing up MY stats.

My bad, looks like I was in-game at a bad time before.
With only the "Ranked Server" checkbox checked, there are just over 150 servers. Not most of them are populated, of course, but some at least have 64 people.
Only conquest servers have that many players though

I just pre-ordered BF3 for pc download, hope Orgin ain't laggy with Steam up. You get taxed ordering an online game on Orgin though, Lol.
