Custom maps

Ok just wondering how come there isn't a server running custom maps and maby a sniper or gun game server arena etc? Just wondering only reason i ask is because all i see is 24/7 dod:s standard maps?

Technically speaking in DOD:S Strand is a custom map, although originally created for 1.3 it was never put into the DOD:S version as a stock map. There was a sniper server awhile ago but it was very unpopular and almost always empty so they shut it down or put it on a different map I can't really remember. As per the gun game server make a request in the dropbox for it. A rotational server has been talked about before but I believe it was ruled out as a possibility, if I'm wrong please correct me. As per a custom map server dropbox it as well, leadership is always willing to consider new ideas for a server.

there have been many attempts in the past to run custom map servers. For example, sniper server and caen. We have always had little interest from the pubbers and most of our members for custom maps. We use custom maps for events and realisms, and I think thats about the right amount for this community.

I do not see a custom map server in the near future. There are plans and ideas in the works to improve our server traffic, but custom maps is not high on that list.
