I cancelled my order of my computer parts I purchased from Newegg.com. (They were going to the wrong address. My parent's house rather than mine.)

I didn't want to make the trip to pick up the parts when they come in. So I cancelled and I'm building a different one. How does this one sound so far.

Am I Crazy?

P.S. I won't be getting this till February. :( *Price drops!*

ummm headset your better off with the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001FTVDQ/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d4_g23_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=0JRZHKCBNP9G6VXRKKNW&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938811&pf_rd_i=507846"]Sennheiser HD555[/ame] mic is separate but it is very much worth it. If you are not getting this build until february there is really no point in this list (I am just saying not to be rude) by then bulldozer may come out and as well new parts.

yes, you are crazy spending over 3k on a phenom

you are also crazy spending money on a soundcard when you are buying a USB headset

And yes you are crazy(stupid) to expect that to still be a decent build in 5 months

I think that's a lot of money to spend on one build -- if you're going to whip up an awesome AMD gaming rig, wait a month or two for Bulldozer to (hopefully) launch and build around it. You can only benefit from this option since you're not even getting the parts until way past the anticipated Bulldozer launch (and whatever other new tech pops up between now and February); even if Bulldozer is sub-par, it means that Intel's prices will undoubtedly go down to be more competitive, meaning you could even build an Intel-based rig that's boss-like.

Don't plan a build for 5 months down the road until 2 weeks before the purchase.

i was going to put it in a nicer way but this pretty much sums it up.

well its not 3k on a phenom. the TOWER alone is only $1,400

the rest are accessories I don't have, like monitors keyboards and mouse headsets.
and the good price of shipping as well.

First of all I have no idea where the 3K dollars come from, could someone put prices behind each item?

AMD cpu is overpriced, why not get the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, cheaper and just as good performance. benchmarks for evidence
Furthermore, 16Gig of ram is way to much. 8 is more than enough.

Videocards might be overkill aswell, crossfire 6950 is allmost as good als 6970. Especially when u go for price/perfomance ratio.
benchmarks

Oh, and i'm giving advice now. But in 5 months this might just be outdated or entirely wrong for you to buy. So i'd say ask for more advice 2 weeks before you buy your system :P

I'm just waiting for fudpex to say:

"You guys are right. This is wayyy too early for me to discuss until I am ready to buy the parts. Admin, please lock this thread. Thanks."

So what happened to our suggestions? $3k on a phenom build? Pretty poor usage of funds if you ask me.

That Phenom II X6 is NOT going to be able to drive two 6970's to their full potential. If you want that, you need an i5 2500k or more.

Sent using my DROID X2!
