So you're new to eGO and/or the DoD:S Division. First of all, welcome to our crazy, off-the-wall, trolling division. Don't worry about if you'll fit in or not--we'll test that here soon enough.

If past history is any indication, 73% of you were recruited by Blindy. The other 27% of us are adults. Either way, you're now "one of us." After your first week or two you're going to think to yourself, "Man, these guys (and Meg) make fun of me for everything I say or do, what jerks..." but you need to realize that that is what makes you "one of us." Take it a little easy if you respond the same way though because you've gotta keep in mind...we've been there, done that, but we have no idea who you are, so if you come out guns blazing, you'd better be able to handle the heat. Trust me, I'd know. :) In a nutshell, here's some good advice...don't be too serious, but don't be too light. Don't take everything seriously, but not everything is a joke either.

For our "established" members, I might seem like a hypocrite right now. DEAL WITH IT. haha But for you newbies, let me also tell you this...look around the forums, get a feel for our history (but please do NOT necropost!), "meet" our clan's "characters"...but do not set out to be the next ST0RMY or Dutch or ronpaul or me or anybody. Instead, be the first you. Help out with things. Attend events. Give and don't ask for anything in return. Just have fun. Get to know us.

Speaking of getting to know us...you can find out or division's leadership here. If you have an issue, don't just go run to slayr with it though. Don't go to C-WHiT/jeod/Spray either. If possible, don't even go to our Advisors. Hit up one of our hundreds of admins first. They'll probably be able to help you out or let you know if it's something that even needs to go to leadership. They're not our babysitters for every little thing and they need all the time they can to be harassed by me. Also...don't be a suck-up to leadership--it's not going to get you anywhere and it's ridiculously obvious. Remember, they're just like you and me...kinda.

Promotions. This comes up sooner or later with every new recruit, usually in the first week or so. "How do I get promoted?" It's very simple. I am helping you with the first step by addressing it so you don't have to, because the first key is DON'T ASK FOR PROMOTION! Don't even mention the word. All you have to do is be active on the servers, active on the forums, and don't be a pain in the butt. It's just that simple.

Speaking of being active on the forums. I know you're here now, duh, but so many people come here to sign up and then just play and never check the forums. Do not be that guy. Seriously. 99% of your questions can be answered on the forums, not to mention it's quite obvious to us who does or doesn't go on the forums. Example: We've discussed countless times things like, "When are teams an issue in-game?" If they are 1-2 people off, please do not start complaining about "TEAMMMZZZZZ" It is not a big deal, teams will fix themselves, and you're just annoying admins because it makes it look like we're not "doing our job." It looks really bad when it's our own 'e's complaining about teams. Remember, you guys represent eGO too. That means we need to show a solid, united front, please don't undermine admins, and above all, it is completely unacceptable for any member of eGO to break eGO's rules in-game. My head nearly explodes when I see/hear an 'e' swear on the servers and then claim they didn't know it wasn't allowed.

A few last comments. Again, make sure to attend events. We have some really great events that nearly everybody gets hooked on once they have tried.

Also, don't question leadership. They have no sense of humor and they will just beat you down and wield their evil banhammer...just kidding.

If you don't mean something, don't say it. Pretty simple. But, if you do mean something, and do say it, but you're afraid of getting into trouble for it, just add "just kidding" to the end and apparently it's all good. Just kidding?

Don't take most things I say (except this) seriously. It's really for the best. In fact, in all future interactions with me, just assume I am just kidding and we'll be better off.

Now that your head hurts, I think it's a good point to stop. I'll add more later and I am sure my fellow clowns will have more to add as well.

Newbies shall be used for the German Fodder Cannon on Donner if they don't listen to this guide.

love to see other members with such a heightened and sophisticated sense of humor commenting on mine and others'.

oh yes, nice post by the way, other than the sense and humor and just kidding stuff. Didn't find it amusing.

Ain't nuttin wrong in posting in an old thread as long as the thread topic isn't tied to a specific event. You find a great thread someplace, extolling the virtues of Bill Mauldin say, it's timeless. Go ahead and post. If a thread is asking you to participate in an event that is over and done, leave it alone.

More on this diatribe can be found here.

I think I basically do a lot of this already, except taking part in events. It sucks that there aren't really any "europe-friendly" events, I'd love to do things like Realism and find out what on earth gungame is, but I'm just glad to play on the servers and be a member! :D

We have had Euro-Realisms that take place during our Tournament and individually, but honestly we never had enough people showing to make it worth the trouble so it was removed from the Tourney.

You should ABSOLUTELY join in on the realism fun when you can though, we are gearing up for another round and it will be a blast as always.

Also, don't try to be the next Quaffer...your fingers and eyes will bleed in the process.

Ah i am in the hall of fame :D
I think what he meant was, "You really do NOT want to play like Dutch"

Yeah, this one was kinda, "For the love of God, please don't try to be another Dutch. This division has one Dutch and that twice as many as it needs." Now, the cool thing about those two sentences, is if you replace "Dutch" with "me" it still works.
