Amidst the stickied guides above and other places about "doing" better on DoD:S, I feel it might be slightly outdated or not theoretically correct in the terms of my play styles.

So, after rage quitting for the first time on teh server ;) because I wa being sniped horribly and killed so quickly since it seems that they have aiming of the gods, I realized I needed help.

So, here is a list of info you can look at and possibly use to offer me a way to do better. Please note, this is for the 24/7 Donner server.

US Army

Common Classes: Assault, Support

Usual Tactic: With the assault and support kits, I usually follow the herd at the beginning, staying back a bit to avoid the initial grenade spam. Sometimes I take a backway that still leads to the middle to try to get a advantage. Once in a while I go to the fields but mostly I stay away since it's usually being camped by a evil person with the aiming of the gods and they have Kar98k's or something similar.

German Army:

Common Classes: Assault, Support, Rifleman, Machinegunner (when open and feeling like it)

Usual Tactic: With the assault and support kits, I tend to go for the middle, tossing a grenade if I get there quick enough before either rushing into the tank house or falling back to avoid the fire. As with the US plan, I tend to go on the flanks, usually rushing for reasons unknown to get to a position.

With the rifleman class I usually take the high ground, trying to pick off ground targets while avoiding snipers when possible. If unable to successfully take high ground, I stay near the back of the frontlines, trying to pick people off but I usually die.

Machinegunner is interesting. I tend to set up either in the fields or in the tank house to fire on the people below. Sometimes I set up on one of the flanks to use as a bottleneck and help relieve pressure to the team.

-----------------------------

So anything wrong with this tactic? I know practice is perfect but I am doing that already, just what else could I do to make the game fun for me? Trust me, sitting in respawn for 7 seconds while getting killed 3 seconds later as soon as I hop out of the spawn area is not fun.

It does take time to get into the DoD swing of things. At least it did for me. If I were in your situation, I would probably start sporting the ol Thompson. You can't go wrong with it and with the obscene, random headshots tossed in there every now and then, it really makes you feel much better about yourself! ;)

But sniping is fun! especially when you get someone running across an open area and their limp body hits something and land in a funny position

Learn to control recoil in support. Crouch, shoot for the chest, and they will drop like flies with the Barr or the STG.

Alrighty...

Your tactic for the US Army is alright. Doesn't hurt for you to try going through the Allies sniperhouse and then making your way quickly to tank alley.

Tactics for the Axis...
I don't necessarily reccomend setting up the mg in the tank house. The angles can be awkward to shoot out of and probably the only good place to shoot from is when you're on the bottom of the stairs watching the Allies side of the tank. With the mg class for Axis, just be aware where the team needs it or if it is overly exposed on one side of the map. One mg can hold off a team for a while until reinforcements arrive and those seconds can be valuable.

Some simple advice:

- Be aware of enemy snipers and where your team is dying. Actually, be aware of where your teammates are dying around you.

- There are always certain spots for snipers to look at/towards in Donner so be aware when entering those areas.

- Keep playing with the regulars when the server is full and learn from their movements and gameplay.

Yeah I switched how I use the MG for axis. I now use it in a back window covering the Axis 2nd Flag when we get hunkered down and when we push, I usually cover the Tank House Alley and Bench Alley to keep it clear, usually rackin up a good amount of kills.

As for the rushing with Thompson. It has been okay so far, held my own a couple of times though Donner gets me aggravated at times.

1. Equip Hand Grenade
2. Pull Pin and Begin Running Towards Your Enemy
3. ???
4. Profit

If you were to come to the CS:S rooms and find me sitting in a channel, feel free to ask me allllll about DoD:S.

Do exactly the opposite of what Dutch does. You'll be fine if you follow this.

I am too lazy to read, so hopefully no one else gave this advice:

Learn what I call corner jumping. Basically jump around corners and train your eyes to see enemies instantly.

Also, use the k98. Even when you are 4-47, do not quit. You'll get better. It sucks but you will get better eventually. Then when you go to use pretty much any other weapon, you will be awesome. (At least that worked for me)

I hate the Kar98k. It needs a serious Nerfing, tired of pouring pullets into a man's chest and he just shoots me once and I DIE. Saddening :/

Well On allies on Donner for all the classes here is a description of what to do!

-Assault/Thompson:Either go to the sniper house though your smoke out to cross the road or go to the ruins then through your smoke so you are not visible! Then just go tank alley and spray and prey from there. If you have a chance to get to the sniper house punch the crap out of the campers :)

-Support/Bar:Like Cowles said corner jumping is great! Also learn how to control the recoil of the gun that will take some practice! So if you have low sensitivity try turning it up just a bit.Use those grenades for example though then over mid to kill the runners. Also learn how to prime those nades where they explode perfectly on the enemy

-Rifle/ M1 Garand: Aim for the head and try not getting caught out in the open with the rifle unless you are really pin point on accuracy. On top of that for a little comparison the garand can shoot two to three bullets before the Kar can shot its second! The rifle nades you can shoot them at the ground and then press E to pick them up and through them , but you better hurry or else boom you blow up!lol One more tip shoot the nades off the wall.

Sniper/Springfield: Very easy to use and very fast seems as if its even light while playing with it. While the Mauser Karbiner k98 Sniper , is very rough and not as smooth to use. Just watch others snipers and see there spots that they go to and then try it out.

Rocket: Ehh just shoot the thing lol

Mg/30Cal: Find a spot to deploy that suppresses where they are going as in they have to get shoot at by you to get to where there going!

If you have any questions I'm on Donner so just add me and I will help you with anything in need , hope this helped !
