How did it all begin?

Hi, my name is Alessa and I am an officer in the US Coast Guard. Been in since 2002 and having a blast.

How did I find Edge Gamers? Well, let's see... about 3 years ago, one of my good friends kept pestering me that I should buy the Orange Box, cuz it had a lot of cool games on there for a good price. Finally, I relented and checked each one of them out. Started with Portal, finished it and then thought I'll play this Team Fortress 2 and finish that game before playing Half Life 2 (needless to say, I haven't played HL2 yet). My friend (the guilty will remain nameless) was (and still is) an eGO member and introduced me to 2Fort, followed by Blackmesa. I asked what this silly =(e)= symbol meant and ended up signing up for eGO myself.

What do I like too do outside of gaming? I am an engineer and I'm in the military, so I do lots of military things: save lives, catch drugs, put out fires, rescue kittens... wait... no, that's right. Kittens need saving, too.

What do I enjoy about eGO? I like the close-knit community with all the really good players and really good people and personalities. I get to joke, talk and have fun while pwning n00bs. What more can you ask for?

Favorite classes: Medic, Engie, Pyro, Demo and sometimes Heavy.
I am a failspy and failsniper :p

December 2009. All alone, at home on holiday from freshman year at university. Played a free weekend at the urge of my real-life friend, eGO's Xerticle (at the time he was an e, but quickly earned his O). I spent probably 75% of my first 100 hours of gameplay on blackmesa. Somewhere around February I signed up to get my own =(e)= tag. :)
My favorite servers have been BlackMesa, Turbine, Payload Rotation, and now ValveMaps.

Unfortunately I rarely have time to play due to my current studies at university. :(

I found edgegamers by unfortunatly being in a very racist and sexist clan which I was very ashamed to be a part of. They always despised edgegamers because they would always come into their servers and try to create peace when apparently that was the admins job. So I heard over some of the clan members that eGO was a mature community. So I was like, well that is better than this. So that January I found an edgegamers server on CS:S and I have loved eGO ever since.

I'm Dave. I joined eGO after getting un-banned (that is another story). Played with loads of cool people still here and long gone in eGO, which makes it easier to stick around. I have game ADD so I come and go with games. I don't play as much on the TF2 eGO servers as I should, and I'm working on that. Once BF3 and TOR come out, TF2 will be pushed to the side for awhile.

Outside of gaming I work in the Oil and Gas Industry here in Oklahoma. I just left the Liquor business that I was in for about 6 years. I have never felt better and I'm a hell of a lot happier.

Bad stuff to post :

-Highly personal information

- Trash talk

My ATM pin number is 12345

People I run away from in real life in eGO:

VP
Noise
Beta
Idol
Darth
Dayman
Death
Whisker
Kevimaster (and all TF2 leadership really)
Cakeman (only so I could eat him)
Ladyface (I never hit women, so this would be a verbal fight, which I would win)
Anyone who has ponies in or around there sig/computer/house (especially Carmine and Mcore)
All of the CSS Division (except Cryptex)
Frisky (for being able to kill me repeatedly in game and beat me up in real life)
Thereven (for rage quitting a game completely)

Lastly, I feel that everyone thinks I'm a troll. I don't see myself as a troll, I think I'm more like a tall person who like to find the funny in everything. If that is seen as a troll around here than I'll fight you.

EDIT: Zero did not make my list of people I would fight because I already beat him up in MS Paint.

If you don't see your name on the list, don't worry, it is written in pencil.

Fixed

I'm PeaceMaker, from Argentina. My real name is Federico and I'm 21. I've joined eGO a few days after christmas (2010), but maybe some of you saw me before because I used to play in blackmesa as a pub. My brother (Angstrom) joined first, so I met this community thanks to him.

Outside eGO I'm a web applications developer (Java) and Project leader. I'm studying video games design and programming.

A little about myself

Hey all, it's Kyle, otherwise known as "Kyleski". For trivia's sake, the "ski" is the last 3 letters in my Eastern European surname. I'm a 21 year old apprentice electrician in the Charlottetown area of Prince Edward Island, Canada. I'm originally from Victoria, BC, but here I am on the other side of the country!

Been playing PC games since I was 6 or so; started with Warcraft II and Doom 2, and worked my way to the contemporary games I'm playing now! My younger brother (eG Grinning Hilbilly) got me interested in playing games online, and I was playing on Ego servers for about a year before I finally decided to join. I love the clean, mature, friendly, and of course fun atmosphere on the Ego servers. My primary online game is TF2, and I've found my home with Steve at good ol' Blackmesa. I'm also a voracious trader, having been sucked into the intriguing TF2 economy.

I enjoy my job as an electrician; it's such a diverse trade that keeps me learning new things every day. I love the satisfaction of a job well done, and the joy of building, repairing, solving problems, and working with people. I'll be crawling in an attic one day, up on a lift 40' in the air the next. From running and fishing wire in houses, to running pipe in commercial buildings, digging trenches, working off ladders, you name it.

When I'm not working, I have a variety of hobbies that keep me busy in the evenings and weekends. I enjoy cooking and baking, working out, hiking and enjoying nature, gaming, shooting air guns, throwing knives, paintballing, digital photography, reading, spending time with my 4 younger siblings, listening to music, etc. I'm a Roman Catholic, and my faith plays an important part in my life.

Well, it's more than "a little" about myself, but I guess that's me in a nutshell! Hope to see you all around on the forums, or online in TF2! :)

Kyle

21 year old 4th year Chemistry/Physics double major undergrad at UNC Charlotte. Started playing games with Dr. Mario, Quake/Doom many many years ago. Got into the Steam scene with CS:S in 2005 and was with the Burger Unit clan for about 4 years. We were in the top 20 CS:S servers in the US for traffic until we switched providers and lost all our traffic and subsequently disbanded. I'll play anything that's interests me, I compulsively buy things on Steam. Last I checked my account was worth upwards of $1,000 and I don't even think I've played the majority of the games I have.

I really only play 2fort and after playing in the servers for a few weeks Boro invited me. It had been a few years since I had been in any kind of gaming group so I accepted. I'm thinking he only invited me to get the top recruiter though...

My hobbies is gaming, Tae Kwon Do, and tobacco.

Hey, my name is hEY (or Jon, whatever). I just turned 21 a couple days ago and just graduated from college with a double major in Political Science and Sociology and minors in bio and chinese a summer ago.

I started playing TF2 again after not wanting to study for my finals for my final few classes. Somehow, I found the eGO tf2 servers, and I liked it enough to come back for 2 or 3 days in a row. Power (who I do not see around often, and coincidentally did not see then either) pulled a ninja stalker chat that was like "I've been watching you" or something possibly less creepy, and invited me to join eGO. I didn't even know what eGO was, but I was impressed by his custom-made recruiting instructions thread, so I joined about a month or two ago.

Since then, I've really enjoyed wasting my time on TF2 primarily on the 2fort servers and just meeting people. Unfortunately, I'm about to leave for a government volunteer program for a year (http://www.americorps.gov/about/programs/nccc.asp), so I'm not sure how much time I'll have from now on, but keep it up guys :)

Wow thanks for responding to this thread. Its very interesting too see everyone's stories.

I started gaming with Delta Force series by Novalogic. That was over 6 years ago. I still play their "Joint Operations" game (created in 2004 ;s) sometimes so i can keep in touch with folks there. It still is a fun game minus the cheaters and whiners.

Sometimes last year I started playing BC2. Somebody I knew from JO gifted it to me. That's when I first came to know of eGO. I played in eGO server couple of times. But then our clan started moving on from JO/BC2 to some other games...and my computer was having hard time running BC2 as it is...and JO had lost so many players over the years that it turned into a weekend game for me. So I started looking for another game that runs easy. I went through all the games I had and noticed I had Team Fortress 2 (gifted by someone else). I didn't have high expectation but when I played it I was hooked. It felt like a good break from typical shooter game.

My first TF2 game was in sniper only server where I managed to dominate a bunch. Within a week of start, I managed to find Blackmesa <3 and I haven't looked elsewhere. This is literally the only map I play. I don't even play Valve maps and know very little about them.

After playing in Blackmesa for few months and having been asked to join multiple times by multiple people....I finally decided to join...and so far I've enjoyed my stay and hope to do so for many more time to come.

P.S. On a bit personal note, I'm a Physics/Math major. After this semester is over, I've 1 more class to graduate.

*Sigh* Guess its my turn.

Hey everyone, I'm Activate. Most of you know me as being a TF2 Advisor or an EC.

I first started playing TF2 when I lived in China. Some friends of mine got the Orange Box for my bro. We beat the entire HL2 campaign, and then continued to install TF2. We thought it was going to be a really bad game, and it was the exact opposite. After enjoying the game so much, my friend actually went out, and bought a game code for me. I installed it and the fragging began.

I originally started playing on a Cyberpunk server. The map was super fun and was great when you are friends on. However, soon after my brother was banned for doing something he didn't. He contested it and turns out the "Community" didn't own that server. It belonged to a member so he could do whatever he wanted.

After that I was scrolling through servers and I found the EdgeGamers Egypt server. I joined it, and I immediately knew that the community was great. So I visited the forums and signed up (December 25, 2009). I was originally in the Insurgency Division, now known as OP:X Division. I stayed in that division for a few months before I changed over to TF2. Turns out, the day after I switched, a promotion list came out. And crazy enough, I was promoted for both TF2 and INS. Shortly after that, I left China to come back to Texas. I got a better internet connection, and I could finally play when everyone else did! I became more active on the servers and I was eventually promoted to O during the Christmas Promotions.

After I got access to the O Private forums (Scary Stuff in there), I saw there was a thread posted saying they were short on ECs. I posted on there, and later got an interview with Kevin about 3 days after I was promoted. I guess I did a good job since he accepted me on the spot. I soon met Noise and Sequel, my best bros. We started co-hosting events and little over a month after, we were given the green light to start hosting our own events.

We did so and had a great time doing it. A few months later, all of our hard work paid off. Sequel and myself were given the Advanced Event Coordinator Award, which was something I was working towards ever since I joined the EC Program. About a month and a half after that, Kevimaster was promoted to the rank of Division Leader, and as such, I was asked to take his place as EC Advisor. I accepted right away as I wanted to help the EC team as Kevi did for me while he was advisor.

Now that you know about me... Time to get Noise to post. :D

Anyways, turns out, I am human. So don't be afraid to talk to me, to invite me to join you. Most of the time I am free and I will play with you. On a side note, I'm only mean to my ECs, so you have nothing to worry about. ;)
