These were my grandfather's medals. I've had them for years. I know the purple heart, but could any of you smart gents identify the others for me?

Thanks,

BLIXX

Bronze Star for sure. And one i think is the medal they gave to soldiers who fought in ww2. And another is a marksmenship medal.

1. Top Left : WWII Victory Medal
2. Top Middle : Bronze Star
3. Top Right : Purple Heart
4. Middle left (Button) : Honorable Discharge Button
5. Middle (Insignia) : (Lance - if Marines) Corporal of the 36th Texas Infantry Division
6. Middle Left : Advanced/Expert Medal (The additional plates under the Actual medal is what he was advanced it with. In your picture the glare makes it so I can not see what it says.)
7. Middle Left (Rectangle) : Years of Service to the US Army. (3 Years in this picture)
8. Bottom Left (2 Awards) : (Left) US Army - Good Conduct Award. (Right) European-Africa Campaign Award.
9. Bottom Middle : Insignia of the 36th Texas Infantry Unit
10. Bottom Right : Combat Infantry Badge

Hope this helps. :)

I did this all from memory so I figured I may of messed up on something.

I had no idea whether his Grandfather was in the Army or Marines, So I took the more General name for the rank and Advanced/Expert badge. (I must of been looking at the Middle Right badge when I typed in for the Expert one.)

I took it that he served in the Tunis and Morocco Campaigns in Africa, then from Normandy to Germany in Europe.

Since he does have the Merit for serving in the Euro-Africa Campaign. I just took a guess that he was regular army since the Marines were mostly in the Pacific.

*Fixed above post for more Specfic Details.
