I think absolutely, so many times I find myself losing track of time before an event I want to attend and the reminder lets me know it's time to get on the game/event.

Yes because i never check the calender. IT should always be notified through the eGO steam groups just so everyone knows who wants to participate. THE ONLY TIME IT DOESNT NEED TO BE ANNOUNCED is durring a big tournament that you need to sign up for.
