Mac or PC?

I use a Mac. It's very great for gaming but the main use for it is for photography reasons. What about you guys?

I'm not sure if this conversation is going to go anywhere...

But I am a 100%, hardcore, PC lover. The ability to customize them yourself, the price, and their gaming capabilities make them the hands down winner.

I use Windows (PC is not the correct word since even a machine running OSX is still a "personal computer") DirectX is a god (to an extent)

I've tried to acquire a macbook(pro) a couple times, but never been able to actually get one. Just something different for mobile use.


I really don't see how you can game on OSX, and call it "very great"

Don't forget .NET Framework.

I've only used an iMac with OS X Leopard, and it was okay. They just tend to simplify things for people, were a MacBook would really be ideal if you're just travelling/casual computing and want things done easily. But, it's not for me.

Plus, the prices are..well..not perfect. It's kind of like buying an Alienware.

I prefer Apple's phones and tablets to anything else out there right now. Their laptops have incredible build quality and unmatched trackpads. For desktops I always prefer the PC based on price/performance and the ability to upgrade.

Ah the old Mac vs PC debate. Ive used both in the past but switched to a PC a few years ago. Macs are great for multimedia projects, as you can get far with all the stock programs they come with. I was even able to play some PC games on a Mac with the help of some emulator software. These days Im using a PC laptop, which was at first a bit weird to use.

I still love using Macs though, and I'll probably switch back to one later on

I'm a hardcore Mac user, but I must admit that games run better in Windows. I dual booted my iMac for awhile, and games (TF2 and Starcraft especially) ran better. But I just couldn't use Windows for my normal stuff (I'm too used to the Mac) and it was too much of a hassle to reboot every time I wanted to play something, so I've gone back to using Mac exclusively. I also have a Linux virtual machine that I code on sometimes. But I usually use Mac for coding too.

If only Apple would allow one to to custom build a computer that OSX would work on (please no one bring up Hackintosh)

I think the main thing I cant stand about macs are half the people who use them. A lot of people will say their mac is so much faster than a windows pc. I would love to compare a properly built and optimised windows pc vs a mac of the same price range.

I dont mind using one for my classes, but would never waste a dime on one for personal use unless i got heavy into photography. On the mobile end, i have the say, my ipod touch is amazing and wouldn't trade it for anything but a new ipod touch or iphone. I think apple has the best devices in that market.

I happen to own both. I've never had a mac laptop before, but I am 50/50 on each one. I think they both have their pro's and cons, I prefer my PC for gaming, but just about everything else I tend to do on the mac.

I know. Tons of people who are completely ignorant of computers tell me that all the time. "duuuude macs are better, everyone knows that mannnnn." I hate it when people think I stupid for defending pcs. And I usually chew them out if they called me stupid. There are somethings each are better for. A lot can depend on what you do and your budget. But I absolutely hate when people join the cult and become apple fan boys. And act like they are better then everyone else and sniff their noses at anyone who uses a pc. Its ignorance in its purest form. Also, its obnoxious to act like your better cause you have more money for a new macbook.

Sorry for the rant guys, but more and more people mindlessly buy into the apple cult and then act they know everything about computers.

I've never had a mac although I know several computer people that have them and love them. I do know that it really depends on what you are using them for as to which best suits your needs. I may end up needing a mac if I get big into costume designing like I'd like to. It would be a while before I'd be able to get one though.

there really isn't anything that you can do on a Mac that you can't do just as well on a Windows based machine.

Final Cut Pro is the one thing I can think of....but FCPX is kinda jank imo. I guess iTunes loads a bunch faster on OSX too.

I want a macbook myself just because the physical hardware is pretty cool could kinda care less about OSX.

PC man myself. I've used a Mac in Video Broadcasting courses and was mildly impressed with them. Not really something I could ever consider spending the money they want for them though.

I have both and love Macs for everything but gaming. There is no way I'm buying a new Mac every time I get the itch for a new VC or any other hardware upgrade. Most gamers aren't content to just buy a PC(or Mac) and sit on the hardware very long. A new game comes out and BAM your VC, CPU, ETC is too slow to run it. Then your in ventrilo complaining about hardware lag and everyone else thats upgraded recently says "Dude I'm getting 100 fps settings maxed out". Thats all I have to Hear . You can buy the latest Mac(yeah right) or upgrade part of your clone or all of it.. Most gamers use Windows, It just makes more sense.

I currently own 3 iMacs and 3 PC's, if I had to choose between them I'd take the Mac... though I am running Vista/XP on the pc.

IF I was "gaming" only then the obvious choice is PC - My current set up I built myself a few yrs ago. AMD PII Quad Core (940) - 4Gb Ram - 1Gb GFX (nvidia). I started playing TF2 again about a week ago. I noticed that Team Fortress 2 was a little sluggish on Vista (32 bit), so I set the system to dual boot (XP). The game seems to run better on XP, for me anyway.

At the end of the day it is just an OS, as long as the programs I need run smoothly I am happy. I do like the keyboard shortcuts of the Mac over that of the PC though.

PC = if you like getting things done with lots of hardware customization

MAC = if you like over prices play things
