What happend to jail...

It got too complicated for me, I found myself not entertained playing on either side.

Jail is like a radioactive isotope, with a very long first half-life and very short subsequent ones. After a while, half of the old people left, then half of the remainder. The cycle continues on...

It can be boiled down to:
When jail started, it was fun for everyone first, kill score second.
Today, it's the other way around.

Old maps: Less games given, more creativity needed. Most games killed prisoners fast in large amounts, making quick rounds. This made freekilling not as big of a deal, as to get to LR you might have to wait 2 minutes instead of 12.

New Maps: Chain Reaction.
More Given Games - Less Creativity Needed - Less Creative Wardens - Leads to Repetition and Boredom

Boring Wardens - Annoyed Prisoners, Long Rounds, and Sleepy CTs - Less Listening - More Freekills - More Rage - More Ragequits - Less CT spots - More Raging Ts

Rinse. And. Repeat.
My hypothesis of what could've happened. The rounds are too long, nothing funny ever seems to happen, and the orders now have to be so complicated that the CTs either freekill or the Ts just can't handle them. (Turn 90 degrees to the right then 180 to the left. Not repeating.)

I hate to be a downer in a way, but if you have a problem, bring it up with somebody, but if they arent breaking the rules, just deal with it in a way, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.
I still LOVE jail even with our younger players on the server.

Well RootBeer yes you are the younger players and also am i. Maybe they mean us but main they mean like 10 year olds and i do agree that they are kinda annoying but that doesn't mean everyone should be "Bullies" even admins do it also but if they do something wrong tell a admin or talk to them when you do that move on and Root Beer don't take everything so seriously also.

Seen too many CTs making a game out of exiting cells and killing off half the Ts for no reason. It's one thing to kill a T who picked up a gun and started shooting your team or a T that ran off and tried to escape, but killing Ts that are facing the wrong way because they heard orders incorrectly is just stupid and makes the game a lot less fun.

I'm taking a break from it. I started to get annoyed at the people who wouldn't read the rules, and just kill people for exiting a cell wrong. Exiting from cells shouldn't be a huge command... -.-

was I a good warden in the past?

When did you ever lead?

Anyway, when there's no fun in the server at all, it means no players. It is as simple as that. If someone makes it funs, there will be players. I do actually go on jail now and then but due to the rules being legitimately limited (No trivia), i have no choice but to go with the games in the map. For some reason, i see that all the really great games just got sucked up and dried from the kids trying to do the games. If you feel that jail is going down, why don't you bring it back up?

Jail is useful to bring down my fun levels. If I've had a day where I'm like "Oh man I've had WAY too much fun today, I need to counterbalance it with something boring so I don't have an insane fun overload", then I'll log onto jail and bore myself to death for a couple of minutes.

Roll it back a year though and jail was pretty fun at the best of times.

Fixed for you :)

Where is Starscream when we need him. I remember when he was warden like 3 - 2 years ago and he was epic.

I miss all of our OLD OLD OLD eGO admins... like when i started playing eGO server 2 years back.... got in eGO a 1 and a half ago.... I miss a lo of the GREAT wardens

Well you see... There was time, a long time ago, that people who started Jail believed it should be an FPS game type with an RPG element. However, now its a RPG with FPS elements which doesn't work well if those who are playing don't pay attention, have short attention spans, or have no clue of the extensive rules, regulations and guidelines of how to play.

This was a time that Jail was simple, CTs tried to control the Ts who just escaped, killed and destroyed the Jail. Those who failed to escape and rebel had to endure painful CT rule and slowly die until there was only one left... Rules were simple, teamwork meant success, rules rarely broken, those days have come and gone though...

I agree, those were the good days of jail, I think its about time for a group of dedicated O's to go in and give jail a good cleaning of rule-breakers.

The reason why jail is not as it used to be is because they removed trivia and other games with numbers. I personally thought it was better with those games. But now that they are gone, maps like prisonbreak.. you have only that "race/climb" outside but the rest of the map is complete crap. I think the only reason why jail has declined in fun was because of the unnecessary rule changes that have occurred over the years. And of course the little kids that don't know what they are doing and freekill constantly

Jail gets pretty old after you rack up more than 500 hours on the jail server.
