What happend to jail...

If you don't like what is going on in jail, don't complain about it, take some initiative and change it. Jail is easy to mold because of its RPG element.

If you don't like the wardens and how they function - YOU BE THE WARDEN. You set the example on how you think wardens should perform and act. You take the initiative to make the game "fun" if you think its boring.

Jail is gonna be Jail.
There is a reason why no one plays Jail like we used to.
I play Jail one night a week, and it's the only reason why I have CS:S.

Back in my teenager days, I used to scrim professionally, now I just play guitar and growl into a microphone, so CS:S serves me no purpose if no eGO Jail. I initially joined CS:S because of Jail, it consumed me. Today, I become intolerant very quickly.

This. Everytime I see a kid trying to be warden but failing, I like to switch teams and help him out. Besides, it's more fun to troll ts that have been having a free ride and watch them go: "AHHHHHH! A STRICT WARDEN." :P

Legend, You have to know that with the new rules, Jail becomes repetitious and boring. The maps are more geared toward old style jail, (Syntax, Prison_Break, Etc.) They have very few in map games and nonmap based games or very limited.

There is two options to bring back the majority of jail players, Either obtain new maps from outside sources, as eGO's current map makers have retired, or are on break. (Captain Nighthawk, Rogue, and Christy.)

The second option is to lessen on the rules to what it was in mid 2010 and back. Rules are to the point as to where jail is giving to much of a equal chance to every Terrorist. Jail games are meant to kill off Ts, no matter if its fair or not. (I see this as a form of a handicap for less skilled or new players.)

The rules often drive away new players to our jail, seeing it as to much of a burden. Recently, new players have become warden and are trying games such as Russian Roulette, Trivia, and the sorts. To my dismay, they are informed of the jail rules and immediately leave, driving away potential players and recruits.

If things continue as they are, Jail will continue to lose interest and players will stop joining the server. This can be seen as : Jail used to be full when we still had the old style BlackOps, Now jail has not been full since late 2010. (This is to my knowledge) {NOTE : Yes I know the old BlackOps had a hack based into the map, but the new eGO version removes way to much from the map, making it unfit for our server.}

I agree. Most of these maps are causing for repeat of the same thing over and over. which makes the rounds boring. along with that having the 65% rule also extends the round because like we stated previously the reason rounds take longer and jail isnt the same as "old" jail is because we dont do games that killed off most of the team.. well thats why..

But hey.. im just a phantom what do i know?

I'd like to give my two cents

1. Jail rules now are more lenient than they were before. In fact, they've been tailored to make jail more enjoyable (Ex. can't play a game more than once, forcing wardens to do different things during the round)

2. Jail has always meant to be fair for Ts. Do you really think making the game less fair and more biased against new players (As if they aren't already at a disadvantage) makes jail more enjoyable? For example people would have a specific trivia question they always asked, so the people who always played jail would always win at that game. Do you think that's fun for new players?

3. Allowing trivia/russian roulette would make jail more enjoyable? -_-

Jail is only as fun as its community, not its rules.

More lenient? Where did you get that from? (Hate to sound like a douche, but its obvious)

The 65% rule now limits us to the point as to where I quit jail for many months due to tireless repetition. Many other Pubs and eGO members have also quit jail for the same reason, Its the same old thing, With no change in sight.

Jail was enjoyable when things were more biased, People never complained of it being boring, and rounds went by much quicker. Now we are lucky to finish a round in the 11 minute time frame.

Life is not meant to be fair, neither is jail. The sooner that is realized, the sooner jail can return to its old state.

to me jail is now a repetitive mess of gubaligoshbla (<--truer words have never been spoken) of built in mini games that get played over and over and over every single round. Go to race, go to couch game, go to climb, lr and repeat. I liked it a lot better when wardens were creative and made things up and even sometimes incorporated the mini games into their creative little games. I enjoyed the game a lot more where you were actually able to rebel and the guards had to pay attention. It was much better when both sides were equally matched. It was also a lot better when there were very very few freedays and no ST's. When the whole point was to either rebel or try to hold down the fort as a CT. I also liked it when gun planting was aloud (in modesty).

Also loved it when people didnt complain about every time they think they got freekilled or shot or mistreated every round and it was really their fault.

Just Saying. I USED to play jail. 1 Year Straight. Now the only time I even consider going on it if I am getting bribed by someone else. Great wardens = when I just started to play jail

Making jail more biased may make it more enjoyable for you, but at the cost of someone else's enjoyment. That would surely fix jail, right?

And people have always complained about about jail, at least since two years ago. And I've seen countless rule/server changes the whole time.

The 65% rule has nothing to do with how people play jail, other than forcing them to play more games. Even without the rule, jail rounds were still repetitious. If you take the rule away, that won't magically make jail fun again.

Point being, again, that the way I see it, the rules encourage wardens to be fun, but it's ultimately up to the wardens to make rounds more enjoyable.

Jail is jail. I don't see anything changing soon, so just make it fun in your own way.

Agreed jail has just gotten too chaotic for me, I haven't been on steam in a week or so, and when I'm on I tend to play Tf2. Other games like Skyrim and MW3 are just more fun than jail right now. (Have to play Skyrim and MW3 on derp console, my computer sucks.)

I will agree that jail has changed, but I don't think it has gone THAT bad. I have played Jail since late 2009, I think if you still have the same kind of a love for jail it is still fun. My personal preference, but I don't think jail is gone. It still has large numbers of people playing each day.

I have to agree with Oberst on this one as well; if jail truly wasnt fun it wouldnt be filled or have a constant player base every day.

And then as several people have now said, just take initiative and make it fun for you.
