European servers

Most Europeans knows how it`s like playing with a high ping( and often much lag). My ping is usually high, but I don`t experience lag very often. At least not in DoD:S. Sometimes it happens. When i play TF2, my ping stays around 210 at eGO`s servers, and i usually lagg too. The USA people get`s to play smooth( most of them), and nice with a low ping. Why can`t eGO get 1 or 2 European servers? At least in DoD:S and TF2, i think 1 in each game would do, a custom map server maybe? This would please very many members. How many Europeans we got? At least 45% ( or even more ) of eGO`s population must be from Europe? I know GameRail is an possibility, but it does not help just as much for each player. Please consider this wish. Thank you.

The fact is US players wouldn't play EU server at all..we tried it once...and failed.

You can use GameRail, it drops pings usually around like 20 or 30 for US players and a guy in the SR had his ping drop 200, he lives in Canada.

hmm yeah americans wont play euro servers, so unless its worth it to run a pure Euro server (much like FL) even if it ran all stock maps, then maybe it would do well at night, but then we risk losing the people from europe to fill the servers at night.

Servers are simply computers that run the game. The can, and are, based everywhere. Servers in the US provide a better connection for US players than a server in Europe, due to proximity.

-a european server costs moneys.....you is willing to pay for it ?
-present US eGO servers would lost 99% of their action during european daylighttimes....do we want this ??
-run a poll ,where european players can vote,if they would play on a euroserver,how often and how much they would spent for it per month
-another problem would be the mapmixture....imo,you really cannot mix orange maps with regular and custommaps
-if eGO would drop 1-2 servers and put ava,donner and flash together on 1 server as " eGO Best Regular Maps"...this moneys could be used for a euroserver

they are some option to discuss....but all ideas starts with the finances !!

a 32 ppl 100tick pubserver costs around 90 €/month
a 24 ppl 100 tick pubserver costs around 65 €/month

Then their ping would get high, so it seems like we have to play on their servers so our ping can get high.

We had a European server a few months back, it didn't run like our US servers and couldn't fill up. That's why they got rid of it.

But i like the idea, maybe you should bring this up to the Council and let them know what you think, maybe they are willing to try it again.

eGO and the Kustom Kettle sponsored and ran a Euro server for close to 6 months, trying both a rotation of maps and a 24/7 format... the server did not succeed, and so was removed.
