TF2 Help

I have been having a problem, ever since I have installed TF2.

It takes me a 10-12 minute wait time t'ill I can join a single server.

I meet the requirements for the game, but I have no clue why it takes so long to join a server.

I did a Vertify the Game Cache, and Defrag, but I still get the same problem.

It happens with CS:S too, but it only takes about 3 minutes. I have searched google, and I have found the same problems, posted 4-7 months ago.

Internet connection/server location maybe? Ive got no idea, but thats the only thing that came to mind.

I've always had problems connecting to servers, my internet is not very good so that might be the problem for you as well.

Not sure, but it shows your connection's "grade" is a C-.

I tried my connection, and got a "grade" of A-. And my game runs nicely except for the occasional lag spikes.

I don't really look at the "grade" they give you, since they compare it to the united states and the world. I look at how many MBPS I get, downloading and uploading. Im not trying to get mad at you.

(I tried the speed test at a freinds house, he got 7.00 GBPS for downloading, and he got a C.

I didn't know system specs have to do with internet speed, but I guess your right.

I have a Pentium 4 for 2.8Ghz.
and a Radeon HD 4350.

I don't know the rest, since this computer was not built by me, and was built 8-10 years ago. (when the Pentium 4 was the best thing on market I believe?)

A P4 huh. Boy oh boy a dual core would be a step up from that lol.

It could be the CPU struggling or lag from being online at peak times or download time for a new map. Heck it may just be steam's fault like most of my tf2 issues, one of these days I'll be able to alt-tab out.

I guess you are right. when ever I open task manager, the processes are always high. Problem is Solved.

BUT, I just need to wait t'ill my birthday if I could build my computer.

ok. first ask yourself, "is my power option set to power saver?" i forget that it was and the servers took me 20 min. to load. i was freaking confused for the whole day as to why i had no connection problems but the server took so long to load.

i'd be seriously surprised if your computer couldn't run TF2. i can run it at 1600x900 resolution with no lag whatsoever and i can barely run BFBC2.

you can try setting power options to "high performance" which often leads to some good gameplay....for awhile anyway. your computer will heat up and slow down after prolonged use of this option.

you can also try setting the process for TF2 in Task Manager to any priority above normal. it should be hl2.exe (*32)
