How did you find steam?

I beta tested it then was in the HLDS IRC channel one day talking with Erik Johnson and he was asking if anyone knew how to cycle through a spreadsheet with email addresses and usernames and mass email all of the users a random password for the puclic launch of Steam. I used to do mass mailings all the time in a previous job so I told Erik I could easily modify a current program to do what he wanted. Sent it to him and they paid me (I think) $250 and gave me copies of Half-Life Platinum Edition, Blue Shift, Opposing Force all signed by the Valve team.

I really heard of it from a friend because I wanted to try some demos that were easy to acquire on steam (Just Cause 2).
 
My uncle had play CS1.6 for the longest time, and CS:CZ. I played it so much all the time, and never even knew what it required. I told him I wanted to buy it, and he told me I had to have Steam. So I heard of it from my uncle.
 
I Started using steam when Counter-strike 1.6 first came out and there wasn't even a store back then.

In other news, I bought TF2 then installed steam back in '08

I bought Half Life in a game store and to play CS 1.6 and stuff it required Steam. That's when I got sucked in. Man I must have been like 12 or something. Those were the days.
 
mw2 was the first game that required steam..which i thought was really weird at first
 
Was playing HL 1, CS 1.0/1.1 (up to 1.5 WON) (I still has the disc somewheres @_@), Blue Shift / OpFor on disc... then learned about Steam for CS 1.6 and then I had Steams.

Now I has two Steams and like 150 games @_@...
 
I bought one of the half life games back in 2004 and it REQUIRED you to activate the game using steam. I kinda hated the idea at first because whichever game it was you COULD NOT play offline until you activated the game one time using the internet. These days it is almost impossible to play any PC game without internet activation so I don't mind as much.

So anyways yeah I was forced into Steam back in the days when it was nothing more than an online activation processor. =/
 
Had Empire Total War, had to sign up for it to work, glad i found it, 1 1/2 years later i found this Site with the help of Rtdriver.
