I have been asked by many members and non-members while on Valvemaps, "oh hey cool! valvemaps. did we lose backmesa?" then I say no, give post the IP in chat. and they are like "thanks". Then they disconnect going strait there. I dont know how they missed the server moving but many did; and I'm afraid that some just accepted its' disappearance and played skyrim.

We have some die-hard valvemap fans that are in there alone everyday trying to fill the server. Where are our die-hard BM fans??? On the forums being bebies? NO!! BM needs YOU to be those players. BM need yall to be idling and filling that server up by any means necessary!

Many non-members(not just 2 or 3) have told me that they wont play BM until we fix the ping. And many said that with confidence that we would.

I played with 5 ping for a year. loved it. Then some how it jumped to an average of 45. Hated it for about 15 minutes; then I loved it. Played with 45-50 ping for a year. Then, it jumped to 70-90, ALL ON THE SAME SERVER. Lets face it, that line is getting pretty heavy.

HOW TO FIX LAG WITH A HIGHER PING
Option 1: lower graphics to gain more pfs, and enjoy the game.
2: buy an i7XM with a Quadro 6000 graphics card(lol)
3: donate lots if money to get server moved back.(would not recommend moving valve because we(die-hard fans) would have to start over on getting people to come all the time).
4: refer back to option 1
5:just hit ppl with the fish all day lol :D BONK!

yes, the title is a little misleading. But this is HOW YOU FIX YOUR PROBLEM:cool:

There are also some options under a thread Wilson posted on how to smooth out your game slightly. I used those today and my playing was 100x better. I only play with medium graphics even though my computer can handle the max version, but it will eventually wear down your video card (in most cases), and make your game a little more jittery.

You can just send me a PM and I'll go hit the Server rack. Normally fixes most of the lag.

what is the link to that thread?

That link by Wilson was helpful, I did that back when he put it up and noticed a huge increase in my abilities. I also started drinking more coffee around that same time, but that may just be coincidence.

Also, why did we move the servers in the first place? Not sure I ever saw this addressed in a previous thread.

Apparently, the new box was going to allow better performance. Not too sure about it to be honest.

I thought moving the servers was an improvement?, Black mesa has a lot of fans, honestly that is the reason why I transfered from CSS to TF2, then the server change was made and BM has been empty ever since.

I know that black mesa is trying to get back up but in my case I really can't play it I don't know if it is me but when ever I join the server I get the connection problem error about five times then it crashes usually I can play but that sometimes happens. But that never happened before the box got moved

BM is literally the only map I play. But my gaming box is broken atm.
Even before that, the server at some point went crazy with ping. I was skipping like a mad man. But for most part the ping was okay-ish. Even that can be troubling if you're playing a class that relies on backstab, headshots or meatshot etc.

I can play BF3 with far better ping ;s

I thought moving the servers was an improvement?

yeeah.

Okay, just to be frank here, blackmesa has no issues. If it did, I think Spidey, who plays with 170 ping on mesa, said things were fine for him. 100 ping is nothing. I played with 100 ping and at 20 fps on my old cpu and I didn't complain. Even if your play is not perfect, you can still help fill the servers.

Also, as we all know, TF2 is buggy as hell now, that might be part of it.

I never said that the server has issues

The new box is fine, its not as good as the previous one, perhaps because of the new location or that all 5 tf2 servers ( or more) are all inside the same box ( as far as I know)

The issue here is: Lets go play back to mesa! Valvemaps is up and running, foundry is a solid map, not to mention 2 fort, we need to go to mesa it would be a real shame to lose such a good map.

I don't know what the deal is, but once i took the settings that Winson said to put in my autoexec.cgf I no longer had lag problems. But at the same time my reaction time seems so much slower.

maybe those settings and the new server setup don't play nice together.

Nah, the autoexec settings shouldn't affect the server settings, really.
You sure it's not just because you're used to playing with a little bit of lag (just a few ms?), since I'm running around 160-180 ping, and if it suddenly went down to 20, I wouldn't be of much use at all, since I'm used to having that delay, haha.
Even though that's a pretty drastic change, you get the point :)

Not saying I'm of any use right now..

Other than that, Activate's falcon punch is pretty effective..

No my lag problems were bad. Every 2 - 3 minutes on Valve maps or Black Mesa I would get such a lag spike that i would freeze for 5 - 10 seconds, obviously when i unfroze i was dead.

Im a die-hard BM fan but since it started getting empty and just saw 4 guys online it took away my joy to play on it i hope everyone see this so we can get again Bm
