Brainstorm TF2 (Win a Free Hat)

Hey teammates!

Honestly, I feel like our division has definitely seen better days. We need some more zest in our appeal, and new ways to keep folks wanting to join. So here's my challenge:

Come up with a great idea on how you (or a group of other TF2 div members) can get more activity on our servers all day long. Ideas can range from mods for the server, certain "game nights" or events, or anything in between. It's all fair game. Don't just say a sentence or two - expound upon your idea!

The best idea wins a free hat.

Get to brainstorming!

Ok so i had a few ideas...

1.More Giveaways: They don't have to be anything big, a spare weapon a scrap and on rare occasions hats. getting anything for free always feels good, and as word goes around more people will want to play just for that chance. all it would require on our end is a few donations now and then. not that hard.

2.Set up a "Just for fun" server: There are a lot of people who play these fun servers such as Surf, Dodge-ball, Rocket/Sticky jump, prop hunt and the like. If we had a map that could either cycle through a few of these types of maps or is a certain type and changes daily or weekly, i bet we could get some more activity.

well that's my $.02, and i hope it inspires others for what else could be done to get those servers full!!

I play on Reddit's server because they seem to have a ton of regulars that are always talking ingame. Maybe that has changed for eGO (people not talking ingame), but that's why I've come to play on their servers a lot. Maybe using Vent less when playing TF2, or at least using both Vent and ingame would help?. xo's great at it. Talking generally leads to teamwork/communication which = <3

Yeah, I found myself enjoying a server a bit more when the admins are boisterous and being silly ad just getting laughs out of everyone on the server.

As far as ideas go...

I may have a couple of ideas.

1. Maybe a 24/7 minigame server. We could have minigame maps for people to play on and enjoy. I have always liked playing those minigame maps a lot more than regular servers (in my opinion). That may be true for other people also.

2. I have heard some people in vent talk about Saxton Hale server. Now I do not quite know what that is but I have heard that people really enjoy playing it. I think it is almost like a Juggernaut game. Here is a website on some more about Saxton Hale

In my opinion what we are missing is the ability to show others that we can have fun on a server that has our rules. I am not saying that we dont have fun, im saying that a lot of people join our server to get away from trolls so they come to our safe server where occasionally they see us having fun. We can do a bounty type thing on our server when its full and announce it for all to see and say that its only open to our memebers and if they would like to join in on this and other things like it along with events where they can win hats ect and are only open to eGO members, they can apply at our website. So essentially showing others a different aspect to eGO and not just what they hear about us or that we have great servers, but a great community who has fun with each other. Thats what I think is missing, well that and moar maps.

How about we make a giant Vudu doll (Vudu, not Voodoo), and force them to join us? :D

agreed

Some server mods I'd suggest are Portals and Jet-packs. I used to be a regular on a Big_City server which had a lot of mods on it, and those 2 were my favorites. Heck, running a big city server would be awesome.

One thing I'd suggest is giving people something to do in spawn while the server fills up, instead of just going AFK. Granted, this would have to involve a map redesign or something, but I think a shooting gallery in spawn would be awesome. In Mesa, you could stick it in the Left on the first floor.

Another option: more stuff to vote on. Maybe have a vote to have class v. class rounds, or to change the maps gravity setting, or maybe enable team kills, or stock weapons only, or instant re-spawn. You get the picture.

Maybe have a scrap giveaway on the hour when there are at least 8 people on the server.

There was a mod on one of the servers I was playing on the other day that let you kill your own teammates in spawn (melee only) while the server was filling. That was fun.

Melee Sudden Death. I miss it.

I my honest opinion, eGO needs to lend itself to mods more. It's a disappointment that we stay strictly to regular gamemodes and never try anything new. You never know what'll happen unless you give it a shot. Minigames, surf, payloads, saxton hale, there's no telling what servers are going to do bad and are going to do good unless you try them out.

I think what we need to do is have a day where we can discuss as a division what's going on and what we need to do. I feel as a division we aren't much of a "family" that we have been in the past. A major problem that I feel hurt us was the switching of our servers. Lots of people didn't know especially non-members that normally played on our servers that we switched which cause alot of our servers to die out a bit. Lots of people have been mad at each other to what I have seen and heard and it NEEDS to be resolved in an orderly matter then getting slammed in the face with a rejection.

As I have been saying "Our candle is out right now. We have the fire and the candle but the candle hasn't been lit yet."

Just my opinion.

I agree 100% with you. There has been too much grief in just short time and we should get a meeting going and get ideas about how we can mend this. I think a Saturday would do just great for that. amen wize.

Yeah as far as the server swap goes I think the change came rather quick for anyone other than an eGO member to know about it. Unless i'm mistaken and the old IP's mentioned where the new servers were located for the Pubs?

I'm certain there is going to be a great deal of fallout concerning recent events and our "family" really needs to come together and sort all this out. It's hard wanting to bring more people in when things are as shaky as they've been. I enjoy being here and it's really the first official time I've been part of a gaming community and would hate to have it soured by events that could have been avoided.

Good ideas being thrown out here people, remember that its your division. Leadership is just here to make sure it runs smoothly!

This is the most true thing ever, this is a NEED in my opinion.

Hey guys, just finished the thread up to here. I'm going to be hanging out in Mesa for the next 2 hours and in Room 2 in vent. Come hang out with me or come on in to talk!

What if we on occasion used the events server for a rotation of TF2 maps made by the eGO community?

I think it would be an interesting change of pace and has potential to be a lot of fun.
