New maps???

Hey guys!

I know I'm "new" to the clan, but I was wondering....has there been any thought in adding some new maps into our server rotation? I play on UKCS's Mega Server for DoD, from time to time and I like their DoD rotation of maps (dod_pelieub4, dod_widenthal, dod_dday2, etc) and I was wondering if there was any thought of us doing that with one of our servers or getting some of those maps into rotation.

Custom maps usually equal empty servers. With some effort and a lot of dedication we have been successful in keeping four 24/7 servers populated. I would not expect a rotation server anytime soon.

Yeah, like Wewo said, we like to keep to what people know and love. The servers stay full and the pubs are happy. This does not mean though that you won't see those maps you mentioned on our event server during realism or any of our event nights. You should definitely check those out.

A custom map rotation server was attempted about 3-4 years ago, and ran for almost an entire year. As much as it pains me to say this because that server was setup/run by me, it was not successful. We tried, but could never get it populated enough to sustain. Sad times really... I enjoy custom maps tremendously.

I think a lot of the playing only main maps began with Source. I remember in the DOD 1.3 days there were so many custom map servers that were always jammed packed! I really do miss those days. Everyone was up for trying new maps all the time. Fact is, a lot of the custom maps are a blast! sigh... :facewall:
