Live Streaming

picture.php

By LadyFace

Over the past few years, live streaming has become as popular as any internet meme. The live streaming phenomenon has hit the gaming industry with a bang, the internet is filled with people streaming themselves playing video games. For some darn reason, this has become a rather entertaining venture; some people even get paid for it! So now, if you haven?t noticed, there is a button labeled ?eGO Livestreams? on edge-gamers.com. Check it out.

You may have also noticed that the ?Casino? button has vanished. It is undecided whether or not it will reappear, but rumor has it you can access the casino via this link.

Besides that, you should be sure to check the home page every day or so to find out information on items like Zimmy?s Topic of The Day corner where he shares things he finds particularly interesting and worthwhile.

Meet the Leadership

picture.php

By Martyr

This month on Meet the Leadership, I was able to get a hold of Zeak(DK), an Operation X advisor.

Martyr: Welcome to the EGO Meet the Leadership Segment.

Zeak(DK): Thanks for having me.

Tell us about yourself.

I'm 25 years old, from Denmark. I've been in EGO for over a year.

What got you started on gaming?

I'm a boy. Got into it a long time ago. Got into Counter-strike (even before steam), and that kept me playing games.

First game you got into?

Mario for the Nintendo was actually my first game.

Do you have/play on any other consoles besides the PC?

I Sold my Playstation, sold my Nintendo 64. Never got into xbox, playstation stuff. Stuck with the PC.

Where did your admin style come from?

It came from my moral convictions, and the admin training.

So far, what is your fondest memory from being in eGO?

Right around the time I got into mapping for eGO I released my first map. Everyone had a good time on it, and that made me feel great.

Moving on. Any favorite TV shows?

The Walking Dead. A little disappointed with how they went with it, but it still is my favorite TV show right now. It's the ish.

Favorite movie?

I watch a lot of movies. None really are an absolute favorite.

Do you like to read books?

I just read Everworld: The Search for Senna. I really enjoyed it. Will probably pick up the whole series.

Do you have an all time favorite book or series?

Yes, Treasure Island. I always enjoyed that book. My English teacher sent it to me, and it was the first English book I read.

Good book.

Oh yea! Treasure.. Pirates.. You can't go wrong.

What is your favorite band or artist?

Zack Hemsey. Heard him on the Inception trailer. It was the ish. Looked up more of his music, and really got into it.

Gone to see any concerts recently?

No. Sadly I haven't been able too.

If someone offers you a million dollars to jump off a high cliff, do you jump off?

If I would live through it, I would jump. But otherwise, it'd be really stupid to jump.

If put in top world position, and given the chance to perfect it, do you think you could fix the world's problems?

Fix the economy, advance medicine. Haven't really thought much about it.

Anything going on in your division?

ARMA 3 is coming out. ARMA 2 has been great fun! Around $30 for ARMA 2. Worth a pick up this ish to play with eGO members. Star Wars: The Old Republic has been doing great. MMO nuts should pick this game up.

Anything else you want to add?

Not really. I'm a simple kind of guy.

All right. Thanks for your time. Good morning, good evening, or good afternoon.

Thank you, and you too.

Personnel Service Center

The PSC would like to welcome two new Advisors: Blindy and UmaTora. Each of them has shown true dedication to eGO. So, if you have not already wished them congratulations, go ahead and do so now.

There has been a huge increase in people applying to eGO and if the trend continues eGO will be growing at a faster rate than last year. We all know that there is strength (and full servers) in numbers.

Cullman would like congratulate all the PSC members for their continued dedication to eGO. He requests that you all shower him with Frankincense and Myrrh. He would also like to mention that he has absolutely no idea what Frankincense or Myrrh are.

Battlefield

The Battlefield division has been experimenting a lot with their servers this month. Their main focus has been filling the servers and keeping them popular. In order to do this they have changed some of the settings in order to test out new ways to keep the servers full. One of the servers is now a 64-slot Conquest rotation of all of the Back to Karkand maps. Additionally, they have changed their Hardcore Conquest server to Team Deathmatch to see how much support it gains.

New plugins have been added to these two servers as well to help manage ticket counts. This means that as more people join the server, the number of tickets per team increases. Hardcore Rush now has a votemap option as well so that players have a say in what map gets played next.

There have also been a few leadership changes recently. In January, one of the BF Division Leaders, Leftenent, was promoted to divisional Council. On top of that, Druidsd and ThundrRok were both promoted to Advisors as well. ThundrRok is heading up recruiting while Druid is helping with the event program.

In an interview with BF Division Leader LilShortstuf, he was asked what he was most proud of this last month. He replied, "I am really proud of my division in working hard to fill our servers. Almost every night we have two full Bad Company 2 servers and three Battlefield 3 servers. Also the rank of B2K was way down in the 4,000s but is now in the 800s. Hopefully we are close to having solid pub base so that those servers become very successful."

Call of Duty

By Commando Vlaskiyov

For the month of March, I had the chance to interview Call of Duty Division’s newest Advisor, HayesY. Promoted to the role of Advisor on January 20th, he is the Division’s main Event Coordinator.

Did you expect the promotion?

I didn’t expect it at all, as we had plenty of Advisors already. Though, I think I deserved it, as the person who handles Event Coordination.

How do you feel about becoming an Advisor?

Not much has really changed to be honest; I still talk to members regularly, and do as I’ve done since before. I feel I can make more of an example of what being an Advisor is like.

Have you been given more responsibility?

Like I said, as an Advisor I want to set an example for everyone. I’m also still setting up events and running them. But I have recruited a new event coordinator, so the division can have more variety in events.

What would you like to implement into the division, if you could?

I would really like to bring more weekly events to the division, and bring back the monthly events, like top gun, royal rumble, and dog-tag scrimmages. Since we haven’t had any for some time, I would like to phase them back in.

Do you have anything you would like to say to the division as a whole?

I want to see our division keep up their fantastic work on Recruiting. It’s exceeding expectations! As I see it, more people equals more participation.

Counter Strike

egomarch2012cssv2.jpg

By LadyFace

It is here in the month of March that we find the ever–prospering Counter-Strike: Source division in high spirits and in consistent rhythm. Their events continue on during the week, the vent rooms are always overflowing with interesting people to talk to and game with, and the recruiting drives become more and more fabulous as time wears on.

Speaking of which, this month is filled with prizes and treasures of all sorts as Baneling has decided to play St. Nicholas (a belated one, I might add) and donate a smorgasbord of Steam games. In this epic recruiting race you have the possibility of winning: Section 8 Prejudice, Dungeon Defenders, Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands, DemiGod, Greed Corp, Star Wars: Force Unleashed I and II, Duke Nukem Forever, Team Fortress Classic, Sanctum, DoD:S, Terraria, Dino D-Day, I-fluid, Snuggletruck, Mortal Combat Arcade, Oblivion and lastly, Skyrim. Skyrim will be a raffle prize. For each person you recruit, your name is entered into the raffle – so you better get to recruiting!

In other news, the fantastic Christy has managed to whip up a new jail map that I and a few others, were invited to test last week. He should be finished with it soon, just a few more kinks to address. The map is colorful and covered in plant life and features underground infrastructure. New music in disco and even a bottomless pit that talks!

Oh and good news everyone! Dust2, Office and the event server were all switched to new boxes, giving both Dust2 and the event server 48 slots. Go fill up Dust2 and Office.

In regards to the Dust2 server, It is Counter-Strike: Source’s highest with the rank of 15. Let’s keep up the great work with filling servers such as Italy –as of late, you can usually find Italy filled up around the evening hours, this seems like a pattern that should be continued as much as possible.

Day of Defeat

egonewslettermarch2012d.jpg

By PBJ

During February, the Day of Defeat: Source Division oversaw the launch of the Realism Campaign 7, which is open to all eGO members (and loyal pubs), regardless of division, who are interested in playing. The campaign consists of battles pitting the Axis against the Allies, with each side vying for control of European territories. Unlike ordinary realism events, this tournament runs approximately four weeks (with matches played each Saturday @ 8 pm EST when possible), and the players remain on the same team for the duration of the event. Generally, each battle produces a turnout of around 40, with a total of over 100 signed up.

Stormy (now an Advisor in the DoD division) introduced realism to eGO. It quickly became one of our clan’s greatest events, drawing members from each division and loyal pubs. While initial configuration and testing was hectic, this event has grown into a clan-wide favorite. Stormy, Blue Stealth, and Sumac have been instrumental in getting realism and the realism campaigns operating smoothly.

The main focus of realism is, unsurprisingly, sticking as close as possible to reality without removing the appeal of the game. Each team receives unlimited rifles, four autos (Assault/Support), one rocketeer, and a sniper or machine gunner, who may not respawn after death. The defenders coordinate previously discussed tactics to defend their side of the map while the attackers wait patiently to invade. A round is won by eliminating the entire enemy team or the defense outlasting the time limit. At the center of realism game play is tactics and teamwork, and without them, a team has no hope of winning.

During the past three campaigns, the Axis have turned the tables of history and successfully driven out the Allied forces. Although Campaign 7 is far from over, the Allies have the early advantage.

Realism presents an environment in which eGO can experiment with new game play without editing our already popular servers; it is played on the Events server. In addition, the communication and teamwork required contributes to strong bonds of long-lasting friendship and comradery, and generates public appeal and interest in our other, member-exclusive events, thus leading to new recruits. With the completion of Campaign 7, there will now be a, at minimum, two week break during which sign-ups will begin for Campaign 8. Be sure to attend for a heck of a good time. Oorah!

In addition to Realism, DoD:S has been focusing heavily on recruiting. Being eGO’s original division, they do not want to be the first cut – and, boy, have their prizes shown that. High-tech products from Razer, Logitech, and others have been offered to top recruiters, as have sleek monitors and unimaginably cute unicorn tees.

(Special thanks to ST0RMY, Sumac, Chuck Norris*, and Smilodon for providing me with interviews and information).

In their effort at world domination, the EVE division has decided to join the Dark Taboo Alliance, a group that specializes in high sec incursions. High sec refers to a policed area in space where you are better protected from space pirates. Incursions are a new form of game play in EVE, similar to raids in WoW. Incursions have 4 different difficulties which require fielding anywhere from 3 to 50 pilots. Find more information on the Dark Taboo forums here.

CCP, the makers of EVE have also released a new game feature called Time Dilation. Time Dilation slows down in game time to a crawl when the server detects a large battle that will cause too much lag. This solves many problems such as client crashes caused by large battles (think 5000 vs 5000). An explanation of how it works is here.

EVE is also concentrating heavily on recruiting. You can still receive a 21 day trial for free from an eGO EVE member. Don't forget this includes all future updates too. There has never been a better time to try the game out.

Operation eXperimental

Who likes to fly around with jetpacks, jump in the air, and fly past everyone while traveling at 100 miles per hour, just for a little glimpse of hope that you can grab the enemy's flag and be a hero? The answer, of course, is everyone. You can do this and more in Tribes: Ascend, which promises to be a reboot of Tribes 2, one of the most refreshing fps games in the early 2000's. There has been a lot of interest in formally incorporating Tribes: Ascend into the OP:X division, however, the only concern is that HiRez may not allow for dedicated servers.

With regard to games currently supported by OP:X, some server tweaking is in the works. Red Orchestra 2 currently has bots turned on in order to keep people in the server with something to do until more people fill up. So join RO2 and invite your friends. As usual, one bot gets kicked for every user that joins.

ARMA II's second season is turning out great so far. An interesting thing about ARMA II, that I was previously unaware of, is that you only play with other eGO members on your team. So if you want to try out a creative and unique game with your eGO friends behind you; then look no further than ARMA II.

We are proud to announce that DigitalDJ has accepted the position as our representative on Council.

Lava for League of Legends

Are there any new developments in League of Legends division?

We recently got a new EC, Callmepyro. We are also working on a few other things we will mention in a short while.
In addition to this, Our competitive teams are looking for people who are dedicated and have a very good understanding of the game. PM Me or Joshcash if you are interested.

Any major patches or game changes?

The last major patch had some great buffs and changes to the game. A champion named Shen, primarily a tank class, was very weak for the past few months. A lot of Shen fans were complaining, so they finally got some good buffs on him.

Supports took a hit with this patch. The current meta game has a Strong AD Ranged Carry bot with a Support to babysit. Many Supports are making the lives of weaker players harder because they make a lot more mistakes. So they are changing the Supports a bit to tone down some of their sustain.

Riot has also stated they are working on something big coming the next few weeks. So keep an eye out for that.

Are there any League of Legends events within eGO? If so, where and when?

Yes! We have three events.
ARAM (All Random All Middle) - Mondays at 9 pm EST
More info here - ARAM Rules
You Pick/Random Event - Fridays at 9pm EST
In House 5 v 5 - Saturdays at 9pm EST

S3XYGIRL for StarCraft II

Are there any new developments in StarCraft II? Major patches or game changes?

Recently, ladder season 6 has started introducing two new maps into the map pool- Cloud Kingdom and Korhal Compound. These two maps were the 1st and 3rd place winners of the Team Liquid Map contest. Also the two maps Xel’Naga Caverns and Arid Plateau were removed from the map pool. On February 21st Patch 1.4.3 was released along with some new changes to Terran and Protoss. Some of the major changes include the Ghost’s snipe ability being significantly nerfed, reducing the damage from 45 to 25(+25 to Psionic) and Mules will bring the same amount of minerals back no matter where they harvest from. To the Protoss the Phoenix was given the Anion Pulse-Crystals upgrade at the Fleet Beacon which gives it +2 range.

Any promotions? Any new DLs or Advisors?

Yes, actually, I was recently promoted to Advisor.

Congratulations.

BG(Warrior) for Minecraft

What's new in the Minecraft division?

We now have a creative world where all eGO member can create anything and they have access to all items in there. Also we have a even world where our EC build events freely and run them in there.

Major patches or game changes?

Yes there is big patch, or upteded, coming out soon. We hope soon we will have pet monkeys, baby dogs, new jungle habitats, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Are there any Minecraft events within eGO?

Yes we have many events for minecraft. They are located in the event world and they are normally held in the evenings when the server is most populated.

Old Monkei for World of Tanks

Are there any new developments in WoT division?

The eGO Clan competitive team is Rockin in Africa. We currently have one A-Team fighting nightly and more members leveling tanks to Tier 10; we are soon to have 2 A-Teams battling in the land of sand.
The eGO-A Clan have new members joining regularly with many leveling in anticipation of joining in Clan Wars alongside eGO.

Major patches or game changes?

World of Tanks have a couple of patches coming out soon, the biggest being the move to Patch 7.2 which will introduce new crew skills.
We are also hoping to see a new American Tier 10 heavy, the T110 that will replace the T30 and see the T30 move over to the Tank Destroyer tree creating a second TD (Tank Destroyer) tree.

Thanks to everyone who helped out and answered these questions for me.
