yo what's up all.. Yesterday, after no real signs of anything about to go wrong, my desktop wouldn't boot properly. It would start up normally, but after the windows logo I would be stuck at a black screen with a movable cursor.

1 hour of hardware trouble shooting as well as software got me no where.. I then realized that the hard drive activity light was always on.. Later on came to the conclusion the HD is has become nonoperational.

I ordered a new terabyte hard drive from HP as mine is still under warranty.

Pretty pissed off considering I must now re-customize DoD..

I'll be back when I can. I am going to attempt the painstaking process of getting back what I can from the damaged HD. (Over 500 GB of music, pictures, and more) :facewall::facewall::facewall:

Dont send your drive to a data recovery place. They will charge about a grand to get your data back. I needed to recover about 2 gigs of pictures of my oldest daughter's 1st year and it cost $700+

Nah I'm not, I intend to recover most of it myself.. How the heck could they charge that much money?! Wow. People be gettin' ripped off..

Sorry to hear of you problem hard drive Fab, thats some thing I dread. But you are lucky up to a point as you are young, here In Australia when your a senior the businesses rip you of with no hesitation. :crying:

:crying: That story made me tear up a little.

Been there, done that bro. I was out for a month cuz of mine cuz the people couldn't figure out what was wrong with it :facewall: don't worry, it doesn't take much to get back into everything, but its very hard to get music and pictures back :/

Update: I haven't been home until today. I have the new terabyte HD and I plan on setting it all up today.. With any luck, I'll be able to play come tonight. (If I'm not lazy. My first priority is setting up and installing essential drivers and programs)

I also plan on attempting to recover data on the defunct HD. I hope it goes well. I've never attempted data recovery before, but I believe I am capable of doing it..

If it's a logical failure I believe I am more than capable of doing this myself. If it's a mechanical failure.. I won't even bother.

If you're computer savvy, and you believe you can do something, read up on it and give it a go before you give up and before you drop mad money to someone who could be ripping you off. ALWAYS RESEARCH THE 'AVERAGE' COST FOR ANYTHING COMPUTER HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE REPAIR RELATED.

^fabbrini's advice of the day hollaaaaa

k ill keep yah updated.

Cmon Fab dont undersell your self , try what ever it is , trying always makes you a better person. I always say to to myself, I am better so I must try. It works out most of the time. when it dont well I tried. cya ingame.

I got hardware in my name, and by so, i know exactly what you are going through lol. my HD have fried 3 times over the course of my pc-"career". You should buy external HD also, not something big, but suitable to back up everything that's a bit more precious. :)

Good luck mate and cya in the servers!
