Last update problems?

hey guys,
When i first got the game, understandably there was tons of bugs and game stuttering because it was brand new. I had stopped playing before because it seemed as if my computer couldnt run the game, then magically it was nice and smooth with no problems.

I hadn't played for a few weeks, then I loaded up last night and it was laggy like it was before, did anybody experience this after the last update? any 'fixes' that anybody has came across?
