Job seekers getting asked for Facebook passwords

it's just wrong, idc whats on your Facebook, if you have it set to privet its for a reason, if your have it public and you have stupid stuff on it then your bad mines on privet and the only thing that could potentially cost me a job is i cuss alot and i have strong religious opinions that some people may see as offensive...but i have a short friends list and a privet profile so really if i didn't get a job they would only have offensive language on me, and not hiring someone based on religious beliefs violates civil rights laws (but like that's ever stopped a company before)

Point is regardless of what may or may not be on your fb...a company shouldn't even have the moral decency to even ask for your log in information

Even if you have a very conservative facebook page, you could be looked over for a job because they see that you graduated in the 60s and won't be with the company long. That would violate Equal Opportunity Employment laws because of age discrimination. So just because your page may not have anything that appears to be innocent, doesn't mean you should hand you password over. I wouldn't just because it violates all sorts of privacy laws.

if one ever did ask for my information i would request they write they formally asked for my information and sign it, then tell them if im not hired based on this fact i will report them and possibly sue them for attempting to violate privacy laws and disobeying equal opportunity laws
