There has been alot of talk about starting a book club. Well, we are going to do a soft or unofficial roll out. A test case, you might say. Hopefully, it will be popular and we will roll out an official club soon.

What is our criteria for success?

1. the Author of whatever book we choose has to agree to come into Vent and speak to our group.

2. All Authors must be approved and scheduled by eGO. We do not want an Author a day, that would burn out on day 4. Authors will not just be allowed to enter Vent or the forums to willy-nilly hawk their books.

3. We must buy and read whatever book or books the Author will be speaking about. We encourage the use of Amazon or Barnes and Noble so we can quantify the impact we have on the Author's work. We also encourage our members to write reviews on the book. We don't know the value of reviews, but we want to be able to quantify our success as a book club.

4. Authors with strong ties to our community will be given preferential treatment.

Our first writer will be Tim Stretton.

[ame]Stretton\'s Amazon Page[/ame]

He wrote "The Dragonchaser," "The Dog of the North," and "The Last Free City."

I have read Dragonchaser and enjoyed it. You will see my review under KeaLaw that I wrote last year. Feel free to start with this book because of the price. $2.99 which I found was fair.

I am reading and we will ask Mr. Stretton about his Annals of Mondia series which begins with "The Dog of the North." It is a bit more expensive because it was Published by Tor (which may be the largest and best fantasy/sci-fi publisher) on November 30, 2010. I am not going to ask anyone pay the $8.90 price, but I am going to ask you to download the free sample.

His latest book, "The Last Free City" was published in March of this year. I haven't read it yet, so I will refrain from commenting on it.

In summary, please download the samples of "Dragonchaser" and/or "Dog of the North." Buy it if you like. We will have Tim Stretton in Vent to speak to us soon.

John, thanks so much for inviting me to visit your community. I've never met a writer who doesn't like to talk about their work, so do ask any questions you might have - whether or not you've read any of my books!

Tim

Sounds like a great idea John, I have not read any books for my own enjoyment in quite some time, I usually speed through books. When I used to read I first started with the Redwall Series of books, and finished them all up to I believe Marlfox. I enjoyed reading the WC3 books and Halo novels and finished A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows. I honestly only read scientific papers nowadays and have not truly read for my own pleasure in a while. I hope to download that sample soon and find the idea of a book club interesting.

This is an awesome idea! I love it! I'm getting back into reading more lately (reading Game of Thrones right now) and this is so cool! It gives me more of a reason to read! :D I can't wait to be able to talk to him. :)

This sounds like a great idea! I'll do what I can to read it (school tends to get in the way) and get into Vent!

i wrote a small story for school if you guys would like to read it for this, it would really be great for the feedback.

Wow, even though I don't like books, this seems pretty fun and interesting! Can't wait for it!
I'll try my best to be there! :)

Just started reading one of the books, seems good.
