Just my thoughts on the game

So I've been thinking about it and I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep playing Diablo. I'll give a little bit of an explanation:

1. It does have wonderful replayability... HOWEVER, for me, only until I hit level 60 (again). I really enjoy the accomplishment of leveling up a new character and playing with their skills to see what they do and how they work. But once you hit 60, that goes away.
2. Their "difficulty" scaling is so jacked up it's not even funny. Blizzard no longer knows how to scale difficulty by doing anything other than "Oh let's make them have 500k health and hit for 70k damage." No, that's not difficulty. That's lazy game design. They said before they released the game that the bosses and monsters were going to learn new abilities as you went through the difficulties. What ability did they learn? The ability to 1-shot you no matter what gear you have? I know for sure that every single boss (even the lesser-bosses such as Skeleton King) have the same exact fight mechanics in Inferno as they do in normal. The only difference is they hit harder, and they have more health.
3. Gear... Legendary and set items are absolute s**t garbage compared to their equivalent rares and even blues, yet they have such a low drop-rate that it's not even worth TRYING to get them just for the sake of saying you found one. Plus, in order to craft set and legendary items you must first find the recipe, THEN you must disenchant a legendary item to get the materials.
4. Crafting anything other than higher level gems is absolutely useless. You can easily spend 400-500k trying to craft Inferno-level gear and not get a single item that you can even sell for a fraction of the price you spent making it. No one is going to sit there and spend 4 million gold crafting weapons in the hopes they will make one they could have bought on the auction house for 2 million. It's broken.
5. Cookie cutter class-builds... I don't know much to say on this. While leveling, there is infinite combinations of spells/runes you can get and you will still be just fine. Then comes inferno. If you don't have 4-5 defensive cooldowns (in which there's only 4-5 that are worth getting, taking away the entire customization aspect of your build) and maybe 1 damaging ability, you will die. Every time. There's simply nothing you can do about it, no matter what gear you have. Blizzard also preached at the customization capabilities of the game with your build, but what they didn't tell you is that Inferno was such a gear/build-check that you lose every particle of that that existed.
6. Auction House. It's broken. It never works. I've lost hundreds of thousands of gold for HOURS because I tried to buy an item that would "time out" and steal my money and not give it back. When the real-money auction house comes out, it's only going to get worse. Gold is going to become worthless as no one is going to post items on the gold-auction house anymore because they have the option to make IRL money on the items. Granted this is entirely speculation and I really don't know what would happen, but with the player base that Blizzard tends to have and the fact they advertised that more than almost anything else, it's hard to expect anything less than that.

I will still probably keep playing and probably get all the classes to level 60. I already have my 60 monk and I'm 51 on a Witch Doctor. But I doubt I am ever going to beat Inferno unless they make some serious changes to the mechanics of that difficulty. Is it possible? Yes. Do I want to spend millions of gold and countless hours dying over and over so I can kill 1 pack of elite mobs just so I get 40 achievement points for finishing all the prime evil bosses in Inferno? Hell no.

Just my thoughts. Take them for what they are worth.

I found that the elites and mobs are harder with new skills and that the ah works fine for me. Maybe get better internet. I found really good legendarys. Remember that if you find 2 legendarys same name they will be different in stats. The ah economy isn't broken it just takes time for people to get on same page with prices. And as an admin don't swear or censor your swears kthnx.

Well I think I had my last taste of Diablo for a very long time this morning. They did a horrible job on it with the difficulty scaling and I'm not about to sit around and get pissed off about impossible elite/champion affixes forever.

Sorry to hear that I hope they can fix it soon

I completely agree with everything in your post, but some of those issues are being fixed with the new patch. Hopefully they will all be resolved soon enough. Until then i'm just enjoying the content.

I also agree with everything you said but I do believe that inferno is ment to be played with a full group, not solo.

I agree with everything you said, this game is stupid hard to where it's not even fun. The fact that it doesn't have wasd controls is why I'm quitting though, heck I'd rather use a controller than the setup they have now...click attack oops the enemy moved and now your character goes to stand in the middle of a pack. That's gotten me killed more times than I can count with the ranged characters when I forget to hit the shift key.
Also melee really sucks, how am I supposed to melee an enemy that spams poison all around himself & then vortex's me into the middle of it & then it kills me in 1.2 seconds?

The non-WASD doesn't bother me too much, that's how Diablo 2 was and I move with my mouse by holding both buttons at the same time a lot anyways. And I agree on the melee part and how hard it is, I don't like that. In the next patch they said they may be fixing that a little bit by getting rid of the "spikiness of the damage" in Inferno. I'm still playing, but I haven't progressed much into Inferno. It's kind of ridiculous how hard act 2 is. Belial requires an absolute INSANE amount of DPS to even think about getting him to the Hulk phase. Vertago has almost 50k and he can't even take down his health fast enough to get him to that phase before he starts spawning snakes which = game over.

I strongly agree with the difficulty situation. It is not balanced whatsoever. The auction house is also pissing me off in the sense that it has too many errors. And yeah, who's going to use gold when there's going to be a real life money auction house?

I think blizzard needed . "pulls out blizzard time equation calculator"
7 more years to finish this game.

For a game that took I think a six year dev cycle it is remarkably unpolished.
Inferno is do able . but its the exact opposite of fun.

and since im on act 3 inferno i am having no fun..... which is sad.

also blizzard has proven once again that it is completely incapable of telling a good story in an engaging way.

seriously i thought i was watching power rangers or captain planet when I was playing this game , and i still have painful thoughts because of it. I am getting better though so no worries.

Ok so the progression of my character (Demon Hunter) is this:

I have finished Act 3 Inferno and am stuck on the beginning of Act 4 Inferno.

Do I want to finish the game? Eventually....

Am I motivated to? Not really....

I currently have 56k DPS (w/o Sharpshooter) with my current gear and any upgrade that I could buy from the AH would cost at least 2-5Mill per piece. So where I am stuck at is doing Siegebreaker runs for items that I can sell for money to buy upgrades. (If anyone knows a better part of Inferno to farm please do tell.) I play enough to maybe make 2 Mill a day of playing 2-4 hours. So what I am basically saying is that I have hit a wall and honestly it doesn't really interest me to get over it since I have been banging my head against it for so long. Also I have no interest in playing any other of the classes and leveling them to 60.

My brother is in the exact same situation as you are lol.

This game at first is exciting and fun, but inferno crazy as umm.. hell.. And looks like your just doing all the same thing all over again. Going to inferno and beat it, yeah that's your goal, but after that, just do all the things to hunt items which is no fun since there still no pvp. Probably what drives them is to sell the items on real money auction house. But for me, no fun on doing those. So after a month and so, I'm done with this game.

I enjoyed the game for the first 150 hours I played it. Nothing to do after you beat inferno. Same thing over and over it feels like.. :|

Overall, I was very disappointed with Diablo 3 and stopped playing after Act 2 in nightmare difficulty. How does such a quality developer like Blizzard start releasing garbage like this? I felt robbed paying $70 for this game. My advice? Save $40 and buy Diablo 2 instead.
