Earlier today I had my first experience of someone recognizing the clan tag outside of one of the EGO servers. It was on a valve server as it was around 3am in the morning was I wanted to have some fun on foundry for a bit to relax from work. I went battle engie and right away someone said that respected the the fact that I was wearing the clan tag and that EGO was a very respectable group (nothing that is not already known but not something one would expect to hear on a valve server).

The round was so-so but I kept up my role as battle engie and ensured that I had proper teleporter placement right up to the last point. Again right before we won the match the same guy complimented me on the teleporter placement and defense of the second to last point saying he expected no less from a member of EGO.

I know this group is a great community but it was a nice surprise to get recognized as an EGO member on a valve server with a supportive compliment to the expected skill level of the groups members.

Anyone else got stories or have experienced getting recognized like this out on other servers?

There are a lot of eGO haters out there. So usually when I go into a server I get hate when I am wearing the tag but there are also nice people out there that I still need to meet.

Lol!, i got a totally different story!, i will not type it all because i don't remember i only remember being kicked once from a server for being a eGO member, being insulted and invited to a eGO haters group, i Loled so hard all those times

Wow its shocking to hear about the group being hated as I've experienced nothing but quality players from its ranks in the game. Why would they hate?

Also, people do not understand that we like having people to play with because we want to have some fun and not just straight competition :D

Same here I got kicked a long time ago from a LUE server & the kick message said "join a real clan", I tried to rejoin the server & got banned from the server

yea well it's unusual Polish to get compliments anyways on TF2 but when you wear the eGO tag, ppl look at you differently probably

Basically there is an attitude in some of the game that we are immature because we do not allow cussing and are willing to give everyone an equal chance to be admins regardless of age. 19 year old offenders do not appreciate being banned by a 13 year old admin with double their maturity.

Of course it is idol's fault.

Of course Idol randomly dropping the ban hammer on whole servers on a whim probably has something to do with it too. :w00t:

I usually get mixed. I get some good comments (even people checking out the website) and I have actually been banned from servers after I was playing to well. :w00t:

When people hate on you, just eat them and then they shut up.

I bet Nik has no problem with haters. XD

I have been on many servers and eGO is very known out there. You have the thank the people who work hard to keep out servers friendly and clean for all player of different age groups. You also have to thank those who have been dedicated to eGO who have joined in the past that don't play anymore for the work they have done over the years.

it's usually my fault

Ok. I take issue with this statement. First off, it wasn't random. Yes, tis true I had a randomizer ban script that would cake someone every 10 minutes. But I couldn't get it to not target clan members. Not that I had any problems with caking a full O, but I got sick of being called into Vent to explain why my cat walked on my keyboard...again. So, no, my dropping of the hammer hasn't been random for some time now.

Secondly, it was not on a whim. I had good reason and those players fully deserved every second of that ban. Of course my reason was usually that my cat walked on my keyboard, but that's another story.

Now, what I used to to do back in my Advisor days, was go play on other servers. When my tags would draw the hate, I'd run a status command and make note of their SteamIDs. Later on that evening, into my 5th dry martini, I'd log into Maul and check my list. Usually the haters were already banned from our servers, but the few that weren't; soon were. After all, it's what tiddy would have done.

I would say most of the hate comes from what others have said: someone who got banned from eGO servers for disrespecting rules.

There is a small part attributable to our own mistakes, however (no one is perfect). When someone of high rank in eGO either a) makes a mistake, or b) does something foolish, you have to deal with the fallout that results. The hard truth is that not everyone has the wisdom to deal with power in a way that honors their fellow teammates, and sometimes wisdom is thrown out and replaced with hastiness and anger. I've seen this happen, and it does affect our rapport.

What can you do to change this? Be the teammate and leader that you want to see. I love this clan, it's not perfect, but it's the best I've seen in all my years of gaming. A good leader (whether an e rank, G rank, O rank, leadership, etc) doesn't forget where they come from. Keep a humble and patient attitude and you will go far.

Now I need to go check my own self for humility and patience. :P
