Battlefield Premium

This is why I hate stats in games. People put way too much stock in numbers that no one but themselves actually care about. The only time anyone ever checks another player's stats is to see if someone is cheating or not. Or before a competitive match in which case I would totally want bad stats to give the enemy team a false impression so they feel even worse when they get ROFLstomped.

I'm convinced my K/D is so low because everyone cares so freaking much about their precious stats that no one wants to attack an objective, leaving me to attack it alone. It's part of the reason I stopped playing non-competitive matches.

Here's a revolutionary concept. Let's just play the game and stop thinking people are checking your stats and gonna go "WHAT?!?!?!?! 608 SPM!!!! This guy is the worst player I've ever seen! He couldn't hit a broadside of a barn!" Or whatever goes through one's mind when they have a stat that is far better than the vast majority of BF3 players.

I agree with most of this. For me, I'd be lieing if I said I didn't pay attention to some of my stats. If i want to know if a player is good or not i'll look at his SPM, K/D & what weapons he uses to find out if he's good or if i can beat him or if he's legit or not. Someone can have a high K/D but if their top weapons are all like MG's which normally shows that the player camps a lot.
If the player has a low K/D & high SPM that means he rushes/Revives a lot and dies. I like looking at all those facts before i'll judge someone by their stats. It's quite easy to tell what type of player someone is by their stats.

At a minimum they shouldn't be made public so less people would care so much what these people half a world away think about their leet skills based on abstract numbers.

I have to strongly disagree with that. Stats are the reason people continue playing games. It's like the constant goal that you can set for yourself to keep people playing their games. Compete with friends on their stats, compare them to other people and such. I like stats and i try to keep mine decent, I'm not an elitist and i'll play games with friends that i know i'll lose on and get killed alot. I like trying to improve my stats but i won't sacrifice playing for fun to do so. Taking away stats won't fix people who go overboard on stuff like that. I knew some people who were crazy stat wh*res and would rage if they lost some of their points on their stats.

For example, Right now i'm checking my ranking on the eGO servers. I think i'm ranked 120 something right now. This is just for fun to see if i can get into the top 50 spot or something. It gives me a goal and keeps me playing on their servers more.

I agree like a couple months ago a set a goal to improve my KDR and accuracy and SPM to a higher number so far I have done all three and if I had never set these goals I never would have gotten invited to one of the best competitive teams. Stats show you what areas you need to improve upon to be a better player and if no one saw stats then there would be nothing to improve yourself with.

I agree with Wi1d...stats are bad.

I also agree with axe...stats are good.

I like looking at them, but without them I'd be a much more active player and less cautious about dying.

I wouldn't really want to reset my stats. I think some of the fun in BF3 is trying to increase your stats to some desirable level. For me, my goal is to get my K/D up to 3 and for some others it's to help their accuracy or SPM. Kinda like trying to platinum every weapon in BC2. :)

What kind of player am I? I would like to know :P.

Also I used to stay tracked to the rankings for CSS. Everyday all day I would try to strive for a high (in this case low), ranking. Eventually I became so burned out from CSS. Even still I stayed in the top 70s, oddly enough. I'm glad that the stats finally got reset after all this time though, it frees me up just to play the game. It wasn't even just me that got burned out by stat tracking, it was other players as well. I remember seeing some of my other friends get angry at the game, because they were losing 25 points a death, while gaining only 2 per kill. It became so ridiculous that it takes so much effort to keep your rank, that you couldn't move anywhere but down. Some of the most skilled players could rack up about 100 points a game, but lose 2-3x as much from dying alone.

I will buy it ONLY because it is a one-time buy, AND includes all the expansions. If it was subscription, and didnt have the expansions, I would be so disappointed with DICE.

Only thing I dont like is the server priority. You shouldn't be able to pay for higher status, only for content.

about the stats issue: i really dont care about my stats ingame
there are 2 things i care about: gameme ranking (yeah i am first euro :D) and unlocking upgrades for guns, my kdr is negtive cause i rush objectives and play to agressive (i dont care :p) and my spm is low cause i constantly start up servers (around 300) i'll be honest i'll reset my stats to get my kdr up whit premium but it isnt a goal off me.
Unlocks <3

From what I read, that this is a one-time charge rather than a subscription. In all honesty I think it would be silly to sub to something like this, get cool DLC for the year this year and only get one next year. Plus this is how long they want to squeeze out of battlefield 3 till we get battlefield 4. But still this is a wonderful value. Ok lets say you don't care about all the extras, The DLC itself is worth it. 5 DLC for 50 bucks rather than paying 15 bucks as they come out, plus with 2 weeks early to play. In total you save 25 bucks over all! This is how it is going to value me and I know its different for everyone else, which is why I am putting my two piece. :w00t:

@amariswolf You would save $10 as most of us already have B2K but yea if you dont have B2K then you would save $25

What if you own both PC and Xbox 360 version do you have to pay twice or just once?

Starting to feel like COD ughh I'm sure I'll end up getting it though.

I am going to assume yes because it is the same concept as did you have to buy B2K for both your xbox and PC (unless you got the special edition but it is the same concept the PC B2K wasnt given to your xbox account)

Yes it is kind of the same concept of COD but it is one time and it is cheaper then buying expansions separately the reason EA might be doing that is so that they have a general idea of what kind of income they are going to have for each upcoming expansion and so that they know that they can spend around this much making it while COD charges you just for having the service on a monthly basis

...Really? Really, Axeman? Cause 608 is so terrible?

And now I'll just sit back and await the inevitable backlash that will occur from this post. That will surely involve someone saying, "You're only saying stats don't matter cause your stats suck."

And the winner of this post is.....YOU! Besides 608 spm is rather fantastic...I'm barely at 300 I think, and I'm quite good at attacking objectives in rush or conquest and I'm quite strong in vehicles so that gets me a lot of kills often and my regular just kdr per match is usually quite good considering I'm also attacking objectives. The worst is watching people run right past m-coms that need to be defused. If you don't want to play the objective, go play tdm. There's nothing wrong with playing tdm, if all you want to do is kill, please do everyone a favor and play that instead.

Only thing I am really upset about is the que thing. I mean cmon if I dont pay for it then i will be sitting in que forever? Thats a bunch of crap. I hate pay to win games -.-

Yea agreed I really dont like the que thing however if you think about it how often do you actually wait in a que longer then 2 people and I assume EA has read all the complaints and is going to make it better like servers can turn off premium but as a default it would be on or the que only moves you 1 person up in line so like if you are first in a 4 person que then the premium user would only get to place 4 and it wouldnt affect you but the person in place 4 would then be place 5.
