The strain on G's

I would just like to say, that being a G is extremely tough.

You are expected to handle a situation without having all the necessary tools to do so.

I was just on a server, and I was the only eGO member on. They were behaving horrendously, so I warned everyone, kicked as necessary, and it seems to be fine. But then someone came back. I preceeded to kick him again, and he just came back. I submitted a ban request, and came back, and it was worse than before! At seeing I can't actually stop them, everyone joined in and laughed at me and eGO. There was nothing I can do, so I just left, and I feel it would have been better if I never tried to admin.

I am not saying you should give G's any more power or anything, I am just simply stating how tough it is to be a G, and that they should be appreciated with all they have to go through.

There's a nice tool called ' conscience and reason '.
There are tools.
But don't worry the real matter is if you're having fun or not.
If you're pissed off proceed to Warn, silence, kick.
Hangin out on ventrilo often helps out alot.

that happened to me before, i couldnt find any Os to help, fortunately the pubs were on my side and the offender got "bullied" off the server

Ventrilo!!! I would recommend vent. If you need help it will be addressed. Trust me the Leadership team of TF2 wants their servers to preform.
Keep in mind as an eG you have the powers to handle most situations, if you do not have the powers to handle certain problems follow these steps.

1) Jump into vent (or already be online)
2) Add eGO ranked members to steam (ask them for help when you need)
3) Have fun. Remember we are here to have fun, not to admin. Admins just ensure the entire server is having fun.

I would also recommend posting this topic in the drop box, or private messaging a leadership member.

Add as many of us as you can, and other G's too! Things can be sooooo much easier when someone has your back.

Being a former G, I appreciate everything G's go through. I'm sure all the O's feel the same way.

Everyone else has mentioned Ventrilo and having O's as friends. I'd like to also mention that you have the power to mute, gag, and silence offenders. This can be undone if he rejoins the server, but at least these are other tools at your disposal. (If you had used these commands, sorry, it wasn't clear that you had or had not used them.)

There are those who revel in being a rebel. Their aim is to win via griefing and by actions that appear to invalidate your authority. The more you react to them, the more they feel empowered. So regardless of game and circumstance, its important to remind yourself of what you are standing for. If you stand for what's right, then it doesn't matter how many times you are defied, nor how many people are laughing at you. Because it ceases to be about you, and remains about the standard you enforce. This focus will help you hang in there till help arrives or the offender gets bored and leaves on their own. Its not about saving face or looking good, per sey, but about holding the line in a calm, confident, convicted manner. That's what wins the day, regardless of what happens. You have the support of this community, so be encouraged!

One of the things to remember is that, for the most part, these people who are acting immaturely are people trying to gain respect from their peers, make people laugh, etc.
Many of them don't succeed in this. It takes a certain kind of person to continue to disobey rules and screw with other players' experience in the game, and it's a kind of person that we need to fight back against. I'll use the example of the strange phenomenon of the Minecraft griefer. In the Minecraft community, there are hundreds, if not thousands, if not MILLIONS, of players who aim to have their entire experience in the game be going onto multiplayer servers and destroying other people's creations. Why is that? It's because they find it FUN to ruin others' experiences.
That's the kind of people we don't want on our servers. With the revolution of free-to-play Team Fortress 2, a lot of those players have gained access to the game. No offense to young players, but I found when I ran my own Minecraft server that almost all destructive players were under the age of 12. I think that arises from parents buying kids Minecraft because it seemed harmless, rated E for everyone, etc.
There's always been a kind of parent that will buy T- and M-rated games for their underage children without them being mature enough to handle them, and the kids of those parents were usually who we had to deal with before F2P. There were a lot less of those than in Minecraft, thankfully. But with free-to-play, any kid that has their own PC, or even unsupervised access to a family PC, can download Team Fortress 2, click the little "Play Now" button, and be assigned to one of our servers.
Sometimes they simply don't understand that we have rules. Most people think "Why would a server have rules? It's just a game," but edgeGamers is among the minority of communities that maintains a (almost) family-friendly environment. We attempt to keep play mature.

Anyway, enough rambling. My point is that the people we fight to keep at bay are weak. They're the whole typical psychological "bully character". They're insecure about themselves or just don't know better, so they're bitter to other people, and disobey rules just to spite others. Gag them, mute them, do anything to just keep them quiet. Because then, in their eyes, you win. They can't bully you or annoy you or anyone else anymore because they don't have the power to. Sometimes gagging or muting while waiting for a ban request to be fulfilled is the best thing you can do as a G. Believe me, I was a G for about a year and 356 days.

TL;DR: gag and/or mute until an O gets on

Sorry that had to happen to you. If that ever happens again, I recommend just silencing the player. It's the trolls kryptonite and then usually just leave a few minutes later since they can't troll anyone. If pub'ers start making fun of you, silence them as well. They'll get the message pretty quickly.
Then, condump their chat logs and make a ban request with all of your instances of w/k's and the continuance of their violating behavior.

Also, you might find this thread I wrote for e's in cs:s helpful: http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210524

I had a similar situation to you the other day.

It was a starry night in pl_badwater. The RED team was using profanity repeatedly. Seeing how I was the only eGO member on, I told them to stop the profanity.

The reply was, "well I think this whole server is against the No Profanity rule".
At that point I just left.

But yeah, these people just want to have a laugh in a ridiculous form.

You did everything right, waffle, so don't feel bad. Kazoo, I think, pointed out that lots of O's lurk Vent, so you can always look there for assistance. Also, as Zeus stated, you can silence/mute/gag people who abuse our servers (once warning/kicking has been deemed ineffective).

I think more than anything this thread highlights the fact that G's are admins-in-training; we are all discovering what it means to be a full-fledged admin, and preparing ourselves should we be granted that responsibility.

Stay strong.

Just to reply to the god chat use. It should ONLY and ONLY be used if the server is out of control and they're is no one there to help. Also, remember that vent is your friend and they're is always and always eGO ranked admins online on vent. Also, Steam Friends is also your friend. Just add a bunch of eGO ranked admin who play the game frequently and you should be fine. Finally, remember to use the chain of command and use ALL the tools at your disposal. Gag or mute are wonderful tools in these kind of situations.

Remember that they're is always someone there to help.

I was in that situation a lot of times, sometimes, NOTHING TO DO with G's powers... if an O's can't help you, you will feel ashamed :/

As far as I can see, this is a complaining thread. I'm not being harsh or anything, I'm just saying what the thread is bluntly.

There was an unbelievably large amount of things you could've done Waffle. Patience, reason, and common sense were the best tools at your disposal, and you didn't use them. Not to mention that you could've just asked for back-up. It's not hard. There's plenty of ways to contact people.

I understand your point, but I just think that this could've been solved so easily. You're just complaining right now.

ONE WORD : BABUS, when N-Light enters the room trouble-makers, exploiters, hackers, all cower in fear against the almighty power of N-Light! :D The G is made for you to hold some of the responsibility on servers not all of it, this teaches you moderation, so when you do become a O you understand the situation, and your able to correctly fix the problem CORRECTLY, or like Idol says " remember kids its always BAN!" :D
