Dual CPU motheroards

Does anyone have any recommendations / experience / opinions on a good dual CPU motherboard. Looking to build a new rig for gaming and physics simulation so need as much grunt as possible!

Thanks very much for those, you dont happen to know of any that would work with AMD processors? Specifically the later 8 core ones?

Not that I am aware of. There you would have to get a server motherboard an a pair of opteron cpus. A slightly cheaper option would be going the slightly older route:

This would be a bit cheaper while providing a total of 12 cores/24 threads and the ability to overclock. The newer xeons that I originally posted are all locked I believe. Overclocking these allows you to get the cheapest models and simply overclock to obtain extra performance while saving a couple thousand. AMD does not really have anything comparable as far as I know for non server use. The amount of memory appears to be halved though at only 48gb for the older sr-2 versus the newer sr-x allowing for 96gb.

Any reason you wanted to specifically go AMD? If cost is your concern, then getting a dual cpu setup is probably not your answer.
