I've noticed that, on occasion, a warden is selected, followed by a lot of "oohs", "umms", and "ahhs" (sometimes over the microphone) about what to do with the terrorists - particularly if there is a large terrorist team. It can be quite off-putting as a terrorist to hear a warden be so indecisive. Other times, the wardens are very decisive about what they want to do, but the same games keep coming up over and over again. This can also be quite mundane and monotonous for the terrorists.
For example, do we ever go to the disco to play something other than freeze dance? If we keep them in cell block, what can we play other than a foot race or simon says?
I thought it might be useful if we started brainstorming some creative ideas for new games to play with the terrorists, either using the games built into the maps (ex. pool, disco, etc.), or games independent of the terrain (ex. simon says, races, etc.).
I'll start with a few ideas to get the ball rolling:
Conga Line - I played this game earlier today, and the terrorists enjoyed it. They line up either in a line, or in a circle, and shift walk around in a set area. Then, either the warden or another correctional officer "sings" a conga tune over the microphone, and on a given command word (ex. "Hey!"), all terrorists must jump. If a given terrorist fails to jump, they die.
Ring Around the Rosy - The terrorists get in a circle and shift walk around the circle while the warden (or another correctional officer) sings the "ring around the rosy" song. At the end, the warden says, "ashes, ashes, we all fall...!" and then types "DOWN!" into team chat (kudos to Texan for letting me know it had to be typed to avoid unfair advantages due to mic delay); the last terrorist to crouch and stay crouched dies. It's essentially a variation of last reaction/first reaction, but might be more fun to play for the terrorists.
What time is it Mr. Wolf? - This game needs some fine-tuning, and might be more appropriate as a last request instead of a game. Terrorists line up along a wall, and the "wolf" stands across from them (circa one football field away). The terrorists ask the wolf what time it is, and then bunny-hop forward the number of hours the wolf says (ex. 4 o'clock = 4 bunny hops). Eventually, the wolf says "dinner time!" over the mic and turns around and charges the terrorists. The terrorists must then run back to the wall in order to stay safe, but any stragglers can be knifed by the wolf. The biggest drawback with this is it's entirely possible for the wolf to get mobbed, before or after "dinner time" (which is what happened to me when I tried this game).
Red Light Green Light - Similar to "What time is it Mr. Wolf?", and I believe it's actually built into one of the maps. The terrorists are lined up along a wall, and the warden types "green light". The terrorists shift walk forward. The warden types "red light", and the terrorists stop. The fastest way to play the game is to eliminate the last terrorist to stop after each "red light" command.
Russian Roulette - This is a good way to compete for LR between two terrorists. It requires a correctional officer volunteer to stand half a football field away from the terrorists. Then, the warden fires 6 shots out of a deagle, and gives it to one of the terrorists. The terrorist then has to aim to hit the correctional officer with that one shot; if they look away or reload, they die (a necessary restriction to avoid their using the gun to kill guards). The first person to hit the guard with their one shot gets LR. This could also be played with more people for ST (i.e. if they hit, they get st, and if they miss, they stack on a different spray).
Song Commander In this game, all songs in disco are used. The terrorists are instructed to perform a certain command (ex. jump) when a certain song is played; for example, when Song A plays, they must jump in place, but when the song switches to Song B, they must crouch and stay crouched. It's their job to remember the commands, and the last person to perform the action dies. It's a variation on freeze dance.
Pre-Round ST Competition - This isn't really a game, but I thought it worth mentioning; I think it's more fun to play a mini-game for st instead of "giving it randomly to _____". For example, the first person to identify and type the name of the song you're singing over the microphone, or the first person to type whatever you say. It's more entertaining for the terrorists if they all have a somewhat equal chance of winning an st, instead of randomizing it. Of course, that's just my personal preference. :biggrin_old:
I don't profess to be the master of games in jail, and I'm aware that some (if not all) of these games have flaws of varying degrees of seriousness. However, I think it's still important that we brainstorm some new games to play, and improve on the ideas we come up with.
Muffs recently posted a thread about ways to increase the popularity of jail, and I feel that pooling our ideas together and playing some new, entertaining games with the terrorists would be conducive to this goal.
So, ideas for new games, or comments/concerns/improvements for those posted?
