New Games for Jail

I've noticed that, on occasion, a warden is selected, followed by a lot of "oohs", "umms", and "ahhs" (sometimes over the microphone) about what to do with the terrorists - particularly if there is a large terrorist team. It can be quite off-putting as a terrorist to hear a warden be so indecisive. Other times, the wardens are very decisive about what they want to do, but the same games keep coming up over and over again. This can also be quite mundane and monotonous for the terrorists.

For example, do we ever go to the disco to play something other than freeze dance? If we keep them in cell block, what can we play other than a foot race or simon says?

I thought it might be useful if we started brainstorming some creative ideas for new games to play with the terrorists, either using the games built into the maps (ex. pool, disco, etc.), or games independent of the terrain (ex. simon says, races, etc.).

I'll start with a few ideas to get the ball rolling:

Conga Line - I played this game earlier today, and the terrorists enjoyed it. They line up either in a line, or in a circle, and shift walk around in a set area. Then, either the warden or another correctional officer "sings" a conga tune over the microphone, and on a given command word (ex. "Hey!"), all terrorists must jump. If a given terrorist fails to jump, they die.

Ring Around the Rosy - The terrorists get in a circle and shift walk around the circle while the warden (or another correctional officer) sings the "ring around the rosy" song. At the end, the warden says, "ashes, ashes, we all fall...!" and then types "DOWN!" into team chat (kudos to Texan for letting me know it had to be typed to avoid unfair advantages due to mic delay); the last terrorist to crouch and stay crouched dies. It's essentially a variation of last reaction/first reaction, but might be more fun to play for the terrorists.

What time is it Mr. Wolf? - This game needs some fine-tuning, and might be more appropriate as a last request instead of a game. Terrorists line up along a wall, and the "wolf" stands across from them (circa one football field away). The terrorists ask the wolf what time it is, and then bunny-hop forward the number of hours the wolf says (ex. 4 o'clock = 4 bunny hops). Eventually, the wolf says "dinner time!" over the mic and turns around and charges the terrorists. The terrorists must then run back to the wall in order to stay safe, but any stragglers can be knifed by the wolf. The biggest drawback with this is it's entirely possible for the wolf to get mobbed, before or after "dinner time" (which is what happened to me when I tried this game).

Red Light Green Light - Similar to "What time is it Mr. Wolf?", and I believe it's actually built into one of the maps. The terrorists are lined up along a wall, and the warden types "green light". The terrorists shift walk forward. The warden types "red light", and the terrorists stop. The fastest way to play the game is to eliminate the last terrorist to stop after each "red light" command.

Russian Roulette - This is a good way to compete for LR between two terrorists. It requires a correctional officer volunteer to stand half a football field away from the terrorists. Then, the warden fires 6 shots out of a deagle, and gives it to one of the terrorists. The terrorist then has to aim to hit the correctional officer with that one shot; if they look away or reload, they die (a necessary restriction to avoid their using the gun to kill guards). The first person to hit the guard with their one shot gets LR. This could also be played with more people for ST (i.e. if they hit, they get st, and if they miss, they stack on a different spray).

Song Commander In this game, all songs in disco are used. The terrorists are instructed to perform a certain command (ex. jump) when a certain song is played; for example, when Song A plays, they must jump in place, but when the song switches to Song B, they must crouch and stay crouched. It's their job to remember the commands, and the last person to perform the action dies. It's a variation on freeze dance.

Pre-Round ST Competition - This isn't really a game, but I thought it worth mentioning; I think it's more fun to play a mini-game for st instead of "giving it randomly to _____". For example, the first person to identify and type the name of the song you're singing over the microphone, or the first person to type whatever you say. It's more entertaining for the terrorists if they all have a somewhat equal chance of winning an st, instead of randomizing it. Of course, that's just my personal preference. :biggrin_old:

I don't profess to be the master of games in jail, and I'm aware that some (if not all) of these games have flaws of varying degrees of seriousness. However, I think it's still important that we brainstorm some new games to play, and improve on the ideas we come up with.

Muffs recently posted a thread about ways to increase the popularity of jail, and I feel that pooling our ideas together and playing some new, entertaining games with the terrorists would be conducive to this goal.

So, ideas for new games, or comments/concerns/improvements for those posted?

Musical chairs perhaps? Find a space with 4 or more corners, usually in disco. Play music, warden types in CT chat the corner which dies, this must be done from the POINT OF VIEW of the warden (That is most important or else there will be mass free kills.) When music stops everyone picks a corner and the said corner gets killed. Warden can also name himself designated shooter for that game to make it easier so the CTs don't derp. Kinda like the couch game.

Cyanide has genuinely made me smile while being warden, always trying something new, it is extremely refreshing to have such a warden. I've had the pleasure of playing the games he has outlined and it has always made for a more fun round.

Keep it up Cyanide, you deserve the !ups!

I like these. Perfect distractions for the guards!

I believe Russian roulette is banned for the fact of it being random plus people cheating. However all the other ideas seem great. Im not a very creative warden so i like to stick to the basics and want the ts to decide in what they want to do :P Other than that, All these are great ^^

How about a game called jump the popo. Ct vs t knife fight. That's all
EDIT: cts can carry nades and use them only to point it at the ground when they are Getting rushed and low hp.

I think making them name a song for ST counts as Trivia.

Also, something I tried once (but got killed trying) was checkpoint climb. Basically, it's normal climb but you name a certain block they must reach by a certain time and kill those who do not reach it until there is a certain number left. They will also be killed if they go beyond the checkpoint block. (Harder to do on maps where there are multiple climb paths but still).

Its all about extreme hot lava climb. every 10 seconds whoever is in last is finished off and its hot lava so if you fall you are also finished off. GG Ts! 65% rule kept in mind however.

Bumping this up as I've come across a new game to play, as well as for convenience for new wardens to have an idea of new and unique games to play. It will be a little hard to keep track, so I recommend only doing this when you only have 2 people to watch. It will only work on maps with breakable physics objects: alcatraz watermelons, resurrection tables/plants/barricades in lobby/ etc.

Basically, I called this game Destruction Derby and gave everything breakable in the lobby of resurrection a point value. Since there were only 2 tables, 3 plants, and 4 barriers at the time, I declared the tables to be worth 5 points, plants to be worth 3 points, and barriers to be worth 1 point each. So then you let the Ts loose and try and keep track of who broke how many of what and tally up the points. Whoever has the most wins.

Also, another game that I haven't seen played in a long time until I remembered and played it today was called Chicken Run. This game was played with 1 designated sharpshooter using an awp or a scout (I prefer the scout as it makes the game better for the Ts). The sharpshooter would attempt to shoot the Ts as they ran from 1 designated zone to the other, say from 1 soccer goal to the next. I also tried this using a deagle, using my best judgement to fire it equal or slower than the rate of fire achievable with a scout, and it was pretty successful. This was only because scouts were very far away and there was only 3 Ts left, so I added another safe zone in the middle circle of the soccer field and manually lowered the rate of fire of my deagle to even things up. Ultimately however, you should play this with a SCOUT.
