Morning, guys!

I was wondering if anyone could help me or has had the following problem:

Thursday, I was playing CS:GO and DoD:S just fine with no issues. Thursday night, I go to play and I load up Steam just fine, in fact there is a Steam Update that loads. I click to play CS:GO and I get a Windows message saying that Steam has shut down and Windows is trying to figure out why (I have Windows 7 Professional). It shuts down along with all the game. I try to figure out whats up, so I shut my machine down and start up again. Same thing. In fact it's been happening since Thursday night.

Nothing has changed on my computer, no updates, no new programs, nothing. The only thing is Steam which has updated twice, since then. I was searching around the forums this AM and trying to find some hints. I went to both games and verified the "game cache" for both games. CS:GO couldn't find them and then found them. DoD:S verified them just fine.

Please help! I've progressed a lot in CS:GO and would HATE to have to start over building up my achievements. Can anyone help me with this or have ANY idea what the heck is going on?

Thanks,
Law....

Just Uninstall Steam N Reinstall Steam If U Got Time... N Ur CS:GO Achievements Save Ur Progress So U Dont Need 2 Restart Basically (Thats How It Is 4 All Steam Games I Think)

Completely exit Steam and go to the folder called C:\Program Files\Steam\ (this is the default location for a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).
Delete all of the files in this folder except:
The Steamapps folder and Steam.exe (If 'exe' is not visible, look for the black and white Steam icon)
Restart your computer.
Then, you will need to launch Steam.exe from within the Steam installation folder, and not from a pre-existing shortcut.
With Steam running, re-test the original issue.

Thanks! I tried exactly what you said...and to no prevail...it did not work. I load up ANY Steam game and I get the same thing....Windows says Steam has stopped working...and it shuts down...then a window pops up telling me "this game requires Steam....UGH!

Any one else have any issues like this or have any idea what might be going on? Again, the Steam was working PERFECTLY up until Thursday night....

I would start by uninstalling Steam and reinstalling it after a clean reboot. I know this isn't always convenient but sometimes updates and or files can become corrupt on their own which in turn hinders your ability to use the software. I am not telling you this is 100% guaranteed but this is the step I would take if I were you.

The other options you have are listed on Steam support. If you would like to attempt these options before uninstalling and reinstalling the Steam software, by all means go for it. Here is the link for your convenience: Steam support - crash troubleshooting

No no no.

If Windows is telling you that Steam crashed, then Windows has it documented in its error log. This error log will tell me exactly why it's crashing.

I'm on my iPhone 4S right now, so I can't really help you right now. But if this problem isn't solved by tonight when I get on, we'll work on it together.

Sent from my iPhone 4S.

As Ric has stated, do not uninstall. Please post the error that you are getting so that we can help you further.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner guys....I was in the process of moving to a new house...and lo and behold, when I got here and tried it again, it WORKS NOW!!!

I am overwhelmed by all the support eGo provides...makes me proud to be a part of the group!

Thanks again!
