So, me being so creatively brain-dead, i need some help with a project. I need to pick a topic where math is applied in our lives and it has to be interesting. So give me some ideas!~

The Time
simply having to look at the clock to determine the amount of time before you have to go to work, or when a TV show comes on, or when you gotta hide stuff before parents come home from work.

time is the ultimate mathematical factor in our daily lives. and it's also something EVERYONE uses =)

Budgeting your money. If you pay your bills and balance your checking account, will you still have enough cash floating in the account that your wife doesn't know about to go ahead and buy that thing online that she said you didn't need? ... maybe that's a personal issue. Let's see. Something else...

Having to measure the trunk of a car to see if the body will fit.

That's probably not a good example. Something more generic. Let's see:

Recipes. Measuring cups are... *gasp*... math based.

Construction, interior design, plumbing and even tailoring clothes all rely on math, measurements.

counting how many fire hidrants are on the way from your house to work >.>

yeah i get bored, ok

Kill to Death Ratios... How many kills do i need to get this life to bring my kdr to 2. Lol...im sure your going to write about game stuff.

How many crazy old people yell and throw shoes at you in a month.

How many and how to plan escape routes if zombies were to attack at any moment.

THE ZOMBACALYPSE IS OVERDUE, MORTALS, PREPARE OR BE EATEN!

I tried this and I have you know i got to 342, until i lost count... "The number of times in a day you blink..."

I thank everyone for the posts but could it not be aobut guns?

maybe a bit more sophisticated

plz

thanks.

lol, I thought you knew what kind of people you're dealing with :O
How many minutes the sun comes up earlier every day from December 21st till June 21st (Unless you're in the Southern hemisphere, then it's the other way around :P )

Something math related on our everyday lives

Only thing would be for me

Money related
distance traveled walking,driving
time spent doing something eg. work, recreation

Create a detailed budget for a month out of your life. Include everything such as food, gas, books , tuition, etc. Leave out nothing. It will surprise you and your professor what all you spend your money on.

The best way to do this would be to wite it down as soon as you buy something or you would surely leave things out. Do it for a month , put it together and turn it in.

Hope this helps.

Try this:

Take an egg and try to make it hit the ground without breaking. How? Simple.

Fnet = W - R/N (Applying Newton's second law)

Then apply a parachute to the egg and watch it safely hit the ground.

Another idea is to choose a spot where a metal ball will land via a ramp. Use a coffee tin to show this area. Then fill out a VoVfDAT table. Ay = -9.8 Dy = Height measured from ball on ramp, Dx = Horizontal measurement from the ramp to tin, Ax = 0 (Unless you use air resistence), Vo = ?, Vf = ?, T = Using a stop watch, make five trials of the ball falling on the floor, or do t = Vyo + the square root of Vy0 to the scond - 2g/g. and divide by 5 to find the average. Then, use the equation VyO = Vy + gt.

huh? ^^^ lol
your best off with the estimation of the cost of things against the estimation of hours worked and weekly salary...Maybe include somthing about percentage of money in the bank and interest and money for the future in that way. Factor in the cost of living (morgage, food, gas, etc.)
hope that helps
looks like your right about at the age that you have to do your senior project ay?

Causal, what the H are you talking about? :O That may be TOO hard lol :P
