I just got my wisdom teeth out! Fun right?

Any tips from people have already got it done?

I took out my gauze when I got home and put some more but I think I've stopped bleeding so I don't have any in right now. Eating soup and Jello :P

Well at least I have an excuse to do nothing!
:)

Don't use a straw... uhmm... (you're lucky about the gauze too, I had braces so they didn't give me any -_-) ice cream, eat lots of that.

Make sure to eat/drink soft things (I didn't and sheared my gums), keep your ice packs on (to help keep swelling down) and you can act weird and blame the painkillers. :p

Ouch man, that sucks.
I'm icing my mouth right now actually.
Thanks will do

I lived on milkshakes and beans when I had mine out, keep everything clean and rest as much as possible.

Those were awful days. ;_;

Everyone else pretty much covered what I would say. Just be sure to follow dentist's orders, if any. You were probably told to wash out your mouth every now and then.

Did your dentist tell you not to do anything with your mouth that involves suction? I was told not to do anything like smoke or drink through a straw because it might dislodge a clot.

There is nothing worse than getting your wisdom teeth taken out the week before Thanksgiving.

That's why I did it a week after Thanksgiving.
1) Gargle warm, salt water 3-5 times a day. It helps speed the healing process.
2) Be sure to clear/clean out the food particles that could get trapped in the gaps where the wisdom teeth were.
3) No straws. Ever.
4) No boxing for that matter.

I can't remember if ice/ice cream was something I had a lot of, but if it helps, go for it. I can imagine how that'll pan out in college:
"Is that ice cream you're eating, young man?"
"Yeah, I just had my wisdom teeth pulled and my dentist said to eat ice cream for the pain." "Oh. Uh..., did you bring enough for the entire..." (my head shaking no) "For me?"
"Sure professor!" (Easy A achieved!)

Dont eat anything with rice. Seriously. It's a pain to try to get any of the rice out if they get stuck in the hole where you had the teeth.

Mine stopped bleeding in a couple days without doing anything special. I just had the padding the dentist gave me to clog the bleeding. Worked just fine. Everything just had a coppery taste for a while. Heh.

When I get my wisdom teeth pulled I hope they're like fully grown :P so its just like a pulling a tooth instead of digging it out ...

Well if they're fully grown you will have nerve's there and I can imagine that would hurt.

Mine were impacted so they need to come out.

I'm only 16 so I got mine out fairly early, I was told the earlier the better!

Mine were impacted too.... :crying:

I second everything here, and to expand on Jawneh's excellent advice about rice - don't eat raspberries or anything else with small seeds either. They get stuck too.
