Hey gang,
Just wanted to show some love for a new indie game that came out last week.
FTL: Faster than Light is a seriously sweet game. You have a spaceship with a crew that is in charge of saving the galaxy. You have vital intel for the Federation that must be delivered, but the Rebels are hot on your heels.
Your crew operate at various stations on your ship and you must manage them appropriately to respond to the dangers that encroach your ship. You travel throughout space, trying to stay one step ahead of the Rebels as well as upgrade your ship, add more crew and respond to various unique encounters.
When you die, it's over. You start fresh over with a new ship, 3 new crew and try again. It puts an urgency on the game and you realize how much each decision matters. Certain objectives unlock different ships and alternate layouts for a new take on the mission to save the universe.
It will never play the same twice. The galaxy is randomly generated each play through. I bought it and have been playing it anytime I've been on my computer.
Even cooler is the backstory of its development. Made by two guys the game was near completion but they were running low on finances. Wanting to finish the game without borrowing money they took their chances on Kickstarter and more than met their goal and delivered on their product. Penny Arcade hailed their success in this article that is a great read.
This game is great, it's inexpensive and hard to put down. I believe more than ever that this is the year of the Indie game, and boy do my purchases prove that lol. Hope you have some time (and funds) to check it out!
tl;dr
