Could we bring up a discussion about the way the points system funtions? During the late nights when I game its very hard for me to gain points due to the fact that almost every opponent gives me 2 points. Now these same people then kill me and get 25 of my points. When I am able to play with a large group of eGO?s I can gain points at an even level as everyone else.

They changed the point system recently on all servers except Anzio. I believe when you die you only lose 75% of what the other person gains. So when a person gains 20 points by murdering you, you only lose 15.

IROCKUSOGOOD killed player =(eGO)= Dr.Awesometon for 20 points [-15]<-- the Bracketed number is what you lose. And you can only lose at max 15 points now, while they gain at max 20 points

Unless Im wrong and have no clue what Im talking about.

The only server where you can lose 25 points per death is Anzio. If you play on any of the other servers, you will lose less points (15 max), and flag caps will be worth more (8 points). These changes, among a couple others, were recently made to balance out certain aspects of the system.

Other than that, your average kdr is 0.83, so working to improve that (which does not mean camp), will bring you the largest increase in points.

:thumbup:For years my total points hovered around 4000 , which was alright for me as I dont play for points I play for fun. Now a week or so back I turned of gameme and a couple of night ago my points came up and they were nearly 7000. The moral of the story is stop worrying about points and they will mount up. Like my marriage has mounted up been married over 51 years.

im not just speaking about myself. I have had a server empty on me because of this. Just last night i had requests to fix this due to the amount of points they were losing i saw a player go over 2kdr and lose 500 points

Feel free to give me the names of those players, either publicly or privately, and I will be glad to explain why they are losing points.

Truth be told, it is very easy to gain points by changing your playstyle and/or sharpening your skills. If anyone who is not in the top 500-1000 rank is having trouble getting points, they are doing something wrong.

Many people tend to blame the system for being unfair, when it is in fact competitive, not unfair. In a balanced system you should lose more points the higher you climb in the ranks. I will tell you now that because we recently made a relatively large change in the system to help balancing, we will not be changing it further until those changes can be sufficiently tested and observed. However, you are more than welcome to continue discussing your thoughts here.

so i think this may clarify what im trying to say but unable to. so i purpose an experiment. i took 2 condumps that i have on file one is from around 3am. The next was from 9pm my time which is CST. i scrolled down to find a status. i then entered into a random number generator 32 nine times. i had to repeat one due to a double. i then took the corresponding steam ID and looked up there points these were the results.

3 a.m.
3,368 on first
5,916 on second
1,744 on third
3,026 on fourth

9 p.m.
18,094 on first
15,326 on second
12,791 on third
7,369 on fourth

We have recently changed the points system and a majority of the players are very happy with it. It has been much easier to gain and retain points since this has gone into effect. At this time we will not be changing the points system again, the overall consensus is that this has been a great and long over due change, and one that we are happy with.

Regardless of how points are dished out, I would assume that the differences between gaining them at 3 in the morning and 9 at night will always vary greatly. A majority of the members and pubbers that play DoD:S, play during the peak times of 4-12 pm EDT, thus allowing you to go against higher ranked players and earn points faster/easier.

As Blue has suggested, improving your KDR and sharpening your skill will be a great help when it comes to gaining points.

this is not me complaining in any way what so ever please do not take it that way i just want to brainstorm maybe something like being able to shut off my stats for a given time... that way if you really wanted to you could not have your stats counted. just a thought... i think a discussion on kpd would be enlighting also

here is a funny thing i that popped up while having wolfrum alpha plot all the kpds of members atleast 60% active in relation to ranking there was a much higher standard deviation in the top 100 players compared to any other set of 100 data points

there is one section of data that has insane numbers and that is the kpd that some people get with the springfield ...

Im lost wute, what i do know is yes we will have people complain an yes it sux we cant make every one happy. i was there so i know what your talking bout, but what u have to look at is 1. you will get them back in long run 2.the people that are taking 2 are mostly new witch means it worth losing them that's another person that's new to are servers so let them like the points they gain that's whats helping keep eGO dod servers alive. face it truths is we will complain an cry that have points but guess what we will be back server again lmao. an im one of though players that has gone from 12,424 down to 11,396 in 2 days from the new players.

Lol i think i went from some points from 7,000 to 5,000 in about a day from really poor playing and messing around trying to just shovel people.

I understand that those 8 hours are important, but there are 16 more hours in a day. When there is only one eGO server filled with sub 5000 pubs with 250 avg ping.

If disabling stats was an consideration it could very easily be done in game through steam browser.

I was going to make the same point that London did- I go back and forth between caring about my points and not. When I am watching them closely, I tend to lose a LOT. when I dont care and just have fun, I gain significantly. For the last month I decided not to worry about my points and have gained over 3,000 since then. Now I am just amused that I actually passed 10,000, although I probably wont stay there-

One suggestion I have, is when players complain about how many points they are losing, just remind them that it's part of the game and that they WILL get them back eventually. You could also suggest that they turn off the gameme stats in game- I believe its !gameme_vanish 1 or something like that- that way, out of sight, out of mind

From the moment I first noticed the option, I've had these bound:
From my Config said:
bind "[" "say !gameme_vanish 1"
bind "]" "say !gameme_vanish 0"

That way, when I vacillate between the two states I can flip the switch which ever way the mood strikes.
With broccoli, even.
