How I Photoshop? Help Pl0x

For my first assignment in Visual Design, I have to make an animated health bar for a game in Photoshop. I got the basics down and it's basically complete but I wanna add some stuff to it.

Is it possible to make the screen fade into darkness when you're about to die or maybe have the bars flash when they get low?

If you use the animation setting you can probably do it.

Personally, I'm not finding Photoshop very user-friendly and it seems to be missing some basic features that I would've expected to be part of the software.

Like what? I've been using it from the past few years and learned everything myself without tutorials, I'm not exactly a pro but I found it easier to use than GIMP for example.

Do you still need help?

Really? I found GIMP extremely easy to use and I much prefer its interface. I know it's not a huge deal, but what really bothers me is how Photoshop doesn't tell you the measurements when you're making a rectangle.

If you want the screen to fade use your gradient tool and play around with the animation setting on that. You can use a red color and for it to look like blood you can find a brush on the internet that you can use your eraser tool to make it look the way you want.

This is what I've come up with and I think I'm going to hand it in as my assignment. It's not amazing or anything, but I should be fine as the main focus is learning to use non-destructive editing.

Didn't know that, I'll be sure to use it, but that's not what I meant. You know how when you use the selection tool in MSPaint, it'll tell you the dimensions at the bottom of the screen? That's what I was hoping for.

Go to the top of the screen.

Window --> Turn on Info
(or hit F8).
