So... I was browsing through different threads on our forum until I got a warning saying this thread contains a site that is known for it's malware viruses. This "error" occured when I was at the "Best .gif's on the internets"-thread.

Am I the only one who got this warning? If I am the only one my PC is probably trippin', if that's the case go ahead and ignore it. If I'm NOT the only one, this might be the start of loads of computers getting Malware.
I hope I'm the only one.

Cheers

well the world out there is dangerous lol. post us the link, ill try it. Dun wurry, my anti-virus is capable of anything rawr :[Σ]

It is probably one of the ad's, I occasionally get survey ad's when I am on the website in my college labs, and I just close them, ignoring whatever it says. I have chrome ad blocker so I never see the issue at home.

No it's not an ad, my tab got blocked. I mean, the 'warning -screen' replaced the current eGO thread.

I visit and have posted in that thread. No problems here. I use Safari if that's even a factor at all.

Anti-virus software is for suckers. Oh, and just for the record, no one is going to retain malware from viewing .gif's.

On another note, it appears that a gif posted by Jomigirock on page 3 is uploaded on a website notorious for malware distribution.

Yea most AV products go by domain and alot of them are common sites folks upload it. I run Microsoft security essentials and dont go to sketchy sites, ive always been fine

i use ESET antivirus and no problems inside threads (Chrome), get another antivirus or configure it for yourself

rawr what AV/malware are you using? Just curious what is actually tripping it.

The error most likely comes up when using Google Chrome.

I've had a similar error sometime ago when I happened on a forum profile that had a .gif/meme file on it from a site apparently known as a malicious site.

Submit a screenshot of the error and where the error happened, if you can, to Leadership and/or Dropbox it and they'll look into it.

Mm I'm positive it's not that dangerous. If I'm basically the only one with this problem then there's nothing to worry about.
The only reason for me to post this so called "threat", is to make sure it's nothing serious and to make sure if anybody else has the same problem:) I'd say it's nothing to worry about.

I'm just restating what has been said before in this post.

One or more of the images are most likely hosted somewhere "known" to distribute malware (aka someone uploaded something that they shouldn't have to said site)

In a way of speaking, it is a threat. Such as if the meme was hyperlinked to the site that was malicious, than your computer could get infected.

Yeah I got one a while back but since then, it seems everything is clean. It's probably one of the .gifs
