I would like to say I have played DOD:Source for a long time and with that said I would like imput from ALL EGO members if possible.

How many of you would like to see a new map or a server with rotation of maps. I mean seriously guys. Donnor, Strand, Kalt, etc, etc.... get old after a while.

If you want more people to come to our servers give them something different to look at and or something new for a change "that includes me".

A server that rotates is sometimes more appealing to people than just the same old thing over and over. Think about it like this, with all the new games coming out you should consider keeping current members attention with something NEW. Or at least different with a change of pace.
I really enjoy all the people I have met here on eGO. I an no where near as young as most of the members are but I do tend to look toward "new" things as far as game and or map. I know there are still map makers out there and chat with them every now and then. But it all boils down to the same thing, Keeping peoples attention.
So please post any comment you may have and ADMIN/Owners of eGO... help us out here on DOD:Source.

We've tried rotation servers multiple times, and every time, they don't get supported and die off quickly. The initial week's interest from eGO members tails off fast, and we hurt every other server in the process. As soon as the map changes, people who hate the new map leave, and the server dies off. Established rotation servers do well because they have a huge population and are both well-known and highly-ranked; our community was built on Avalanche/Donner/Strand/Kalt. While the house system is gone, the inter-map rivalries persist, to a point.

We used to have Flash as well, but we had to cut it because the server was dead. People loved it, but it died off eventually.

We replaced Kalt with Argentan and Colmar, and neither of those took off, except for during official events. Anzio has been our most successful "new" server as of late, but it has required prolonged support from everyone to keep it going.

At the same time, we have limited resources and don't want to lose a top-75 server (which I'm proud to say that all of ours are!) trying something that has failed repeatedly. A rotation server sounds like a great idea, but it has never worked out, and that's why we have no plans right now to try one again in the forseeable future. Unfortunately, this is a case where the evidence has been very clear - we've failed every time that a rotation server has been attempted.

(I'm probably going to regret not closing this for one specific reason, but I'd like to get a feeling for how everyone feels about our servers and direction as we come to the end of the calendar year. As always, feel free to contact any of us personally or through the Drop Box with your comments.)

jk, love our servers. Even though, would be excellent to bring up a poll or a such around eGO and especially our division about what map people would like to see(and play) as a new server perhaps. :)

you had to go there hardware? lol. Personally I like map rotation, but if it dont work what good is it?

Love our maps at the moment, Kalt, Anzio and Donner mainly. I would love to play in an orange map rotation, but I guess everyone has there own preferences and we can't cater for everyone niche wants.

I think we could try a rotation server, take off our 24/7 maps and put custom maps on there. The main difference between what we tried then, and what we have now is the Rangers. Anni and whoever else runs the group has done an amazing job throwing out little announcements. You have the pubbers who keep Ava and donner alive and Kalt and Anzio are dead without us anyways. We can do what we always do, once we fill one up send 2-3 people to a new server and slowly switch out.

However if it was to replace one of our current servers (instead of getting a new sever altogether) I'd say no, its not worth the risk.

As we continue to recruit new members (and lose some of those members) I think we should ask them what they would like to see for our servers, as they are the future of eGO. We all have our favorite maps and tend to play those like we live there (I myself have a permanent room in the hotel in Anzio). We need to find out what would keep them coming back and keep them from leaving. I do believe the past has a tendency to repeat itself if you take the same route to get there(as proven by what jeod said), however, I would like to pose the question, where is our future going to be once our player base expands beyond the capabilities and capacity of our servers? It has already started to do so... I have waited 10-20 minutes to get into Donner during peak times with the wait list being so long. As it is awesome our servers are this popular, is it not possible that we are losing new opportunities for members because they simply don't want to wait that long to play? For those who think they could just join another server yes this is true, however, what happens to the player that doesn't know about our other servers because they don't know about eGO in general or are new to the game? I'm sure some of them end up on the servers that we are in competition with to stay so high in the rankings.

Love all of our servers even though I do sometimes prefer a rotation server but my passion lies with custom maps. Now as a suggestion I wouldnt mind maybe seeing a day now and then when we may change a server to a rotation server for a day as I have seen on other servers but I still dont see that quenching the thirst of the rotation crowd so my only other suggestion would be to maybe come to some of our events that we hold through out the week where we do play other maps with a great fun atmosphere. But as it stands I don't think getting a rotation server would be worth going for if it has failed many times before unless it can be proven that it can sustain a positive player base religously. Thats my thought

I think that all of our servers are in a very good position. I think that with our major uptake in recruiting and our big steps forward in server filling thanks to the rangers, we might be able to get back our sixth server. I actually think flash might work. I have pubbers that still tell me how much they miss flash/ask where it went.

I disagree with a rotation though. I think that we should stick with what we are good with, 24/7 servers.

I love rotation maps but if they don't work for us then there is no reason in getting one again.

Yes. if it doesn't work take it down. If we the players want it what good is it to say no?

We have a rotation fellas. You can play anynof our maps when ever you want. Just check the "game servers listing tab" on left.

While I understand the desire for a rotation server, I've never really seen them be successful in a 24/7 type of environment. Personally, I've always been a huge fan of Avalanche, and love playing that map. I know some people who hate it. But looking at the server stats, it looks to me like the 24/7 Avalanche server is our most popular DoDS server.

But again, that's just my opinion. :)

When was the last time we had a rotation server? I cant remember one in my time in DoDS, and I doubt we had one during the houses because that wouldnt make sense to me either.

If I had a choice of places to play, it would be on an eGO server. I always check your servers first for openings.

I do also check around for servers running different maps, like Argentan, that I enjoy playing.

I've run a server before for the Bombshells, and I understand the frustration of trying to start and keeping a server populated. So I don't fault the guys who have said you've tried it before. It's a huge undertaking and full of a lot of hours of shooting by yourself on a server trying to get things started.

I've thought myself of starting my server back up, with a small rotation of Argentan, Flash, and the detonation maps, but I don't want to spend the few hours I have available to play sitting alone on a server.

As a new member of eGO I have noticed that our servers and extremely busy and as Meg showed with her recent post, we are still ranked in top 100 on all 5 servers. This is an amazing achievement and is testament to the friendly attitude and fun nature from all our members. It is with this evidence that we are thriving that I come to the personal conclusion "If it ain't broke then don't try and fix it".

Best way to come a decision amicably would be perhaps a Poll if the council approved said survey we could let the members decide.

Just my personal opinion and apologies if anyone is upset by it.

When was the last time we had a rotation server? I cant remember one in my time in DoDS, and I doubt we had one during the houses because that wouldnt make sense to me either.

Correction, We did have one when their where houses. And I'm pretty sure we tried it after houses for a short period.... I could be wrong on after houses.

But the problem stays the same, Look at rotation servers out their already.. They don't do much better. Does it make sense to expand into a field that barely is surviving?

Even with the Rangers it's to vast and too much already for them to try and add a server. They have enough on their plate. Everyone wants NEW things for DoD:S to supposedly keep it alive or interesting, But were barely keeping the servers we have alive.

Maybe ask yourself a important question... How many hours do you play a week in our DoD:S servers? And how much time do you support when you play other servers that we have besides your favorite server in eGO? If theirs any "free time" I'd be impressed. And how many hours can you support a new server without hurting our other servers that your taking time form? Personally I know its hard enough keeping up with Strand and Anzio never mind trying to help other servers too.

These are rhetorical questions mostly.

I hate to say this, but the only way a rotation server could work would be if Kalt and Anzio were rolled into it. Whether it be a true rotation of a rotation with map vote, we can not sustain a sixth server. An anzio/Kalt/colmar/flash server might do ok. Or some similar combination. I am talking about replacing both Kalt and Anzio with this server, so we would likely have five full servers most of the time.

I like playing on the servers we hav now,but i also like playing rotation servers and custom map servers. This is just a suggestion, but what if we had customs and rotation maps for weekly events.Maybe one day out of the week on our event server?
