There might have been another thread about this, but I can't seem to find it.

Well, anyway, help? This shows up every time I restart Steam and is a pain in the butt.

Same problem for me except it's with DoD:s.. Very annoying indeed since this sometimes takes almost 5 minutes to complete

Restart steam?, Restart your PC? or if you really want to play reinstall TF2.. usually the 2nd one works..

Go to properties, select the local files tab, and select both "verify integrity of game cache" and, if that does not work, "defragment cache files." That should help (though it might delete any custom texture packs, I don't know since I don't use them)

i had the same issue and reinstalling tf2 fixed the issue. Pain in the but, however it worked or me

This! Is the best and works 90% of the time. Also, check steam support.
