Photoshop Brushes Question

I recently downloaded tonnes of brushes supposedly for Photoshop 7.0 and a good majority of them will not work due to a compatibility issue. Is there a way to use brushes universally or am I missing an update or.... I don't know but I want to use them!

You put them in your C:\Program Files\Adobe\Presets\Brushes path, correct.

Yes I did. Half them are not compatible. Maybe some are for CS3...

That's most likely the cause. But hey, upgrading is cheaper then just buying a new version.

What's the difference between Photoshop 7 and CS3 then? I've been using only photoshop since I started dabbling in graphics and never really got into CS3...
