Maybe its just my first knee jerk reaction, but change isn't always intrinsically good. I must confess I am much less fond of the new style but maybe it'll grow on me?

I feel the exact same way. I didn't even realise until just now. I saw a new applicant with the new logo and I was like, What?! How can she have a different tag than us. But, it wasn't just her. It was everybody.
And I don't want to disrespect the makers of the new logo but I prefer the old one. Or like Dutch said, we should've voted on the new logo

Well, first I would have to point out that in my 3? years in here I've seen some big changes and much has changed and not all was necessarily to better but I won't go into that in detail now.
But I find this new layout to my liking, now I see that most of you are basically torpedoing the change immediately when it is new, but how can our clan evolve and grow if not by adjusting to the times? I urge you to at least give it a chance, it might actually grow on you. Besides, someone has put their effort into it and in my opinion, the old one was getting kind of boring.

Why does it look terrible? Be constructive. We can't improve the design if you make it impossible to understand why you don't like it.
Honestly, I am more creeped out by Dominion's avatar.... 
As for the eGO logo, I don't mind changing things up, but the new logo seems to be a bit more juvenile. As a mature gaming community, you would expect a mature-looking logo. I would prefer we stick with the circle as the background, due to the star having more of a childish feel. Also, the star just doesn't fit with the round leaves on the community leader's logos' distinguishing laurel. Plus, the laurel covers the brackets around the star. I'm not sure if that was intended.
If we go back to something closer to the old logo, the circle can still be updated with a new border to match the the double lines on the right and left of the star logo. These look nice. If we do stick with the star, I think the font for eGO could be rounded a bit more and made smaller for the O ranks letters to fit inside the star.

I just flat out don't like it, it just doesn't fit my tastes. I don't know what would look better/what to change to be honest, but I like the old design much better.
I realize that these designs took a lot of time, but I'm a really straight forward person so I'm not going to sugarcoat my opinions.. maybe it just seems a little too cartoonish for me.. i'm not quite sure.

I am not as fond of the new look as I was of the old look, but I just naturally like softer edges. I'm not a graphic artist, so I can't contribute technical reasons, but to me the old style looked more professional and grown-up. The sharp edges jar my eye.

Personally I find that the rank images are hideous... Especially the commgr ones because it is so cluttered in the middle and the wreath looks... Nonproportional? I can't think of the correct word but it just doesnt mesh with the rest of the image. I also feel that the rank images do not look nearly as professional as the old logos. The new rank images look like vector pieces that any run of the mill clan could produce as opposed to the old rank that was sleek in design and well crafted. I thought it was a great symbol for the organization. Now that I look at it again the new ones remind me of a cheerleading logo.
I think the rest of the site is great. Just not the rank logos.

This post is a good example of what I want to be seeing.
Everyone here is entitled to their opinion and you don't have to like the new images. All I am asking for is valid criticism / additional details so the people responsible can understand your reasoning.
This is not a one-shot deal and we will continue to make improvements based off of your suggestions. Above all else, please be civil.
I'm really surprised to see how many people feel it's necessary to be so harsh about it. One thing hasn't changed, and that's the unity the organization has. And for those who don't know the meaning of unity, it is the state of being united or joined as a whole, which we all at eGO are. Just some changes on the website won't actually change the organization itself, so simmer down and give ideas rather than degrading the work someone worked hard on. I know no one here would go into the Design section and bash others' work if you don't like it.
Just be kind and courteous and your opinion will go a long way.

I think we should have a contest to make the new image of eGO. Not saying that this one is bad or anything, but eGO is made by the people, for the people. Everyone could make there own if they feel up to the task. I kinda felt no one had the option to yay or nah this design to be the face of all eGO. I can see that we are trying to modernize eGO, but some logos do not need to be changed. Coca cola and Pepsi have not changed that much. They keep it familiar to make consumers know that its still Pepsi or coca cola. This design though i truly felt it reshaped too much of the eGO logo. Still a good design, but maybe tone it down a bit in the pizzazz and hipster look.
Couple different critiques. One, I don't like the font or the star. Too harsh, too pointy...just looks rather unprofessional. Two, I don't like how the two big bold lines (coming from the sides of the star) change length with your rank. It's frankly a little intimidating and not really what I feel this clan is about. We are an inclusive community and that's what I liked about the old logo. Everything was the same with the exception of a "G" or an "O". Pardon the pun, but it seems like with this new bigger, flashier logo (if you're higher up in the clan) we are just stroking egos. It just looks awkward though if you are a joining e member.

I voted yes. I like it. I didn't expect it and I'll be honest, I said "Woah!" aloud the first time I saw it.
What really grabs me about it, and this would be the one suggestion I make, is the size and scale of it. Compared to what was formerly there, this graphic is huge and almost overwhelming. I would almost recommend reducing it to the size of the old ones, but I realize that will probably make it a lot harder to recognize the different graphics for those appointed to various levels of leadership.
So ultimately I don't mind. I couldn't make a better one and my rule for myself is I won't criticize something without being willing to help improve it. Art work stuff is well beyond me and I thank those who put time and effort into making this sleek badge.
