Hello all! Today, I decided to make a quick guide on avatars.
Have you ever found a picture on the internet and used it as an avatar, but it had that annoying white border around it? Ever wanted to get rid of said border? In this thread, I will teach you how. For example, just look at my avatar.
Also, this is a tutorial for gimpshop not photoshop. I am sure this can be done on photoshop, but I do not know how.
PS: Click on the pictures I provided to enlarge them.
Step one: Open your picture.
First, we are going to want to open up the picture you to use for your avatar. To do this, click file>open>then search through your files and double click the picture you want.

Step two: re-sizing.
The maximum size you can have for an avatar here on eGO is 125x125. If your picture is bigger than this, you are going to have to re-size it. If you don't know your pictures dimensions, this will also tell you that. Right click on the picture>hover over "image" and click scale. (additionally, you can use the scale tool to the left of the canvas). Now, set the length and the width to 125x125. (I like to set it to 100x100 just to be safe). Now click OK.

Step three: color.
Now we need the color that blends with the eGO background. Near the bottom left, there are two boxes overlapping eachother. click on one of the boxes and it will bring up a small window with different tabs at the top. Click on the very right tab (the one with the hand pointing to different colors) and look at the different shades of gray it has to choose from. Select the fourth one from the right. Do this same thing with the other box.

Step four: transparency.
This is the easiest step. Now all you have to do is right click on your picture, hover over layers ,thenh over over transparency, then click "add alpha channels. If the add alpha channels section cannot be selected, click "remove alpha channels", then do this again, this time clicking "add alpha channels".

And that is it! Now your picture is good to go on the forums! Save then go to the site: My account>edit avatar.
