A friendly thread for new players to chat

Hello!

Like many people I'm sure, I got one of the numerous free Dota 2 keys that have been going out lately. I've dabbled a little bit in LoL so I have a feel for the genre, and I must say the more I've played of Dota2 the more I have enjoyed it. It's funny how many of the characters remind me of the Warcraft III heroes, which isn't really a surprise when you think of it.

Anyways, I'm not posting to seek help or improvement advice from "pros" of the game, rather I thought I'd make a thread where newer players like me can throw in some discussion, thoughts, maybe some questions. Really I guess anyone can chime in, I just want to make a thread where everyone feels comfortable posting.

So far for characters, of the different ones I've tried I've liked using Bane, Drow Ranger, Naga Siren, and Mirana. I usually pick random. I notice a LOT of people pick Drow Ranger, I feel like she and Sniper are in every game.

Just curious as to what other characters others have played and enjoyed, or if there are any good items often over looked and all that fun stuff. Like I said, preferably looking for newer players to chime in and feel comfortable posting, but I won't get too worked up if you "veteran pro's" chime in too. At the end of the day we're all here to have fun!

My favorite hero ever is pudge, followed closely in 2nd by clinkz. It's just fun with Pudge to hurt people by basically farting on them.

lol cool. I will have to check him out! I played with Juggernaut last night, didn't go like I thought it would. Might try him again though.

If anyone is looking to meet up to play I'll be online tonight and tomorrow around 10 pm EST. Would be fun to play with fellow eGO members.

Same, I got DOTA 2 recently for free as well. It was really fun, although I'm still not as good as others, i really do enjoy it.

All the heroes, all the items, makes it really fun. I'm not the type of person to play these type of games, but I really do enjoy it!

Hmm, not sure what the issue there would be, but you can always join the chat manually in-game. On the initial lobby screen (below your profile name), there is a '+' sign to add a room. Just search for 'edge' and we should come up quick!

Tried this last night, and again today. Both times the only chat channel that comes up is iron-edge and none of the names in it look familiar.

Did get into the eGO chat room. It finally showed up when I searched for it.

Finally had some consecutive matches with some fellow pubs and had a blast. Must have won 5 games in a row. New favorite characters include (but are not limited to) Lina (LOVE LINA), Ogre Magi and Lion.

Ahaha, yeah I like Axe too, but only pick if they have one or no range heros. Then it's just gg unless they have Ursa or troll... So It's rare that I GET to pick him. Others that I pick are Necrolyte and Bane (Love bane). Really I like team heros that provide awesome support ahaha. So yeah mr. teamfight is the perfect nickname... :thumbup:

Bane was the character I was given in the very first match I played. I had a good time with him.I want to try Dragon Knight at some point too, but its a way different play style as compared to my ranged nukers. Could be fun!

Bane is a VERY hard hero to play and exicute his spells the proper way. Try heros with 1-2 spells, then move your way up.

New fav hero to add to the list: Warlock! 5-0 with him so far, such a fun hero.
