ok i have a PS3 but the problem is that i cant play ps2 games on it and when i let home it was working fine when i got back it couldnt play any ps2 games i have when i try to play one the sceern flashes and turns black and the controler wont turn on but its fine with other PS3 stuff so plz help me i dont know anywhere else to go i've looked on the web and theres like nothing i have it loading right now for like 20 mins so please help me !sad (ill be back and playing when summer comes around)

Hmm as long as you don't have one of the newer ps3's that no longing support ps2 games then it should. If it is an older ps3 then it is most likely the lens not focusing correct on old ps2 games. I suggest that you try an normal dvd then put in your dvd format ps2 game and then a lens cleaner that uses a soft cleaner. If neither works then I would get ahold of sony or some one who fixes them. Hope this helps

Could be a software problem, most likely not a hardware issue.

2 things I would suggest

#1 Did you buy a seperate warranty for the console? If yes Like for example Gamestop I believe chargest you about 35-50$ for their product replacement waranty. Just grab a new one.

#2 If you ahve not purchased a waranty and the console is farely new and it falls under the time of the limited waranty contact sony and you will have to pay for shipping and handling of the console to sent it to sony to get it fixed.

Call them up it might be something simple.

The first question that has to be asked... is it a 40 gb? if so you are out of luck... only the 20,60, and 80 gb are the ones that play PS, PS2, and PS3 games.

Well from the way he posted it seems he was able to play them and then suddenly lost the capability to do so.

That happened to me a lot when I got a PS2 for a while was able to play all my PS1 games then suddenly I cant play any of it. Unable to read the disk or something.
