I am frequently getting a pop up window "Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working" when accessing the Forums page on our website. It seems to be happening on both of my computers. I am not seeing this on other websites. It requires me to close the window and try to re-open it. It happens enough that it is getting annoying.

I am running windows 7 64-bit, explorer 10 on one pc and windows 7 64-bit, explorer 8 on the other.

Could be a glitch with Explorer. Have you tried either Chrome or Firefox? I use Chrome almost exclusively and I don't get the issue you are seeing.

Yeah originally when I started in eGO everytime I would come on my Avast found that some of the ads were melware. Could just be the adverts doing it

I think you are right. It is still happening so much that it's difficult to access the forums. I had to close explorer twice just to enter this post

I sent a notification about this to our ad network. BTW, I use Chrome and am completely happy.

I have Firefox and never have any issues. Been using it for years now. Of course the lack of ads with the donation is the way to go and it helps with our cause here. The ads help pay for the site also. :)

The ad network says they can't replicate the problem and is wondering if there a certain page that gives you the warning. If so, give me the link here.

any forum page

having trouble updating this page and trying HARD to update a maul notes. typed it in notepad and did quick copy and up date to get something in there and also here before it crashed.

I will try to do screen capture and email it

It seems to happen frequently,,, but NOT all the time. I am watching and working through forums right now with no problem, but have periods where I can't stay open for 5 seconds.

I am stuck using Internet Explorer on this computer for other requirements

Others mention that they have similar problems with Internet Explorer (including posts in this thread)

I tried completely rebuilding my computer just in case there was a virus/malware, etc. and the problem still occurs.

I can't grab all the adds that pop-up as my screen is not long enough for that. It does seem that the crash would be when an add would be updating on my screen. I do get a popup window sometimes while on our site for things like survey etc. as seen in the 1st window in the attached document. I will most likely be donating enough soon to bypass the adds and then we can see if it is add related by seeing if it goes away. However, I think we need to resolve this for others that visit our site and experience this problem as well.

I will continue to try other things to debug.

If all else fails, I am willing to "consider" letting someone from edgegamers remotely diagnose my system if this continues. Our gaming community is that important to me. I would need to really trust who I would let into my computer remotely.

I will be out of town tomorrow for a week.

Updated Information

Two computers with Internet Explorer 10 both crashing.
One computer with Internet Explorer 9 not crashing.
Tried voting in our poll twice and immediately had problem. 3rd time it worked. If that was the problem, I don't think it would have worked on the 3rd time.

Typed this in notepad and did quick copy

Granted a week of DS lite to you Bones while we figure this out. Thanks for the report!

I sent all the latest info to the ad network.

Here's the update from the ad network after I forwarded your images and complaints:

Odd. Looking at the popup and the crash, and given the vast majority of your users aren?t having this issue, I?m guessing these users have some sort of infection. None of our suppliers run popups, and if they are seen, they are usually spawned by a local malware infection that is detecting ad tags being loaded, and then loads the popup alongwith. Kind of a deception to prevent the user/admin from knowing exactly where it came from.

I just flipped through your site using IE (which apparently has been updated on my machine to IE10), and still nothing. Can you replicate this? Ask your mods/admins to all switch to IE, and see if they can. If 10+ people can?t make it happen, then it?s likely this guy has some rogue malware that is causing this. Even if he reinstalled windows, that doesn?t mean he fully formatted and cleaned the disk, so the infection may persist. Or perhaps be on an additional drive to escape being formatted on the OS drive. Tricky business.

I can tell you how it was happening to me Artimus:

I had just finished building my new rig.. running Win 7 64 bit on a brand new SSD. I went to windows update, Asus update, and Nvidia update. The next place I came was here, to the eGO site and instantly crashed. Thinking it was my end, I made sure I had actually installed ALL of the latest updates for all my components, and I had. I continued to repeatedly crash on eGO website... so I donated to get rid of the ads. I had 0 malware on this rig as stated by the ad network as being the cause.

I forwarded the info to the ad network. BTW, thanks for becoming a Dedicated Supporter.
