I have been thinking about this for a bit now about TF2, and now my brother brought it up as well, so either we're both retarded, or we're on to something.
Anyway, does anyone think that there should be a rifleman class of sorts in TF2? Thinking about it, there is no medium ranged decently accurate gun in the entire game. A rifleman class would be perfect. If any of you have played Wolfenstein: ET, something like its rifle would be perfect for TF2. Not uber powerful, not a one-hit headshot kill on anything but maybe scout or spy, give him a few rifle nades, and maybe a bayonet..... Kinda like the garand from DoD:S, just less powerful. I dunno guys, but it sounds bloody well good to me. o_O
Discuss.

never that will never happen.
TFC dint have rifles and TF2 will never have rifles (i Hope)

Well, it seems cool but what would it do for the team?

What does it have that no one else does?

I have a good idea for a class, maybe I'll post it.

I understand your sentiment, but it's just not TF style to have rifles and standard weaponry really. If you want to play it like an old shooter, you can use the soldier.

I would hate it. Every class depends on the other classes. A rifleman class would unbalance the team.

i agree with chair but as baron said in tfc there was no rifle and there won't be one in this game

Fantastic point MoP. Hes right.

This game was designed so that every class relied on another. The ONLY class that doesnt really rely on another is Soldier (You can debate this :P)

Also, The reason snipers have to charge up, is because Valve didnt want them able to shoot quickly, encouraging sniper-like behavious, and headshots. With a rapid rifle, you could replace the sniper :\

Rifleman are too dependent on being ALONE and that ruins the entire point of Team Fortress. Same with the nadespamming from TFC. :(

In DoD rifle is way too easy to use...for example:
1. You can shoot with it from far without ironsight, no scope not so good for that
2. You can use it easier on close than no scope
3. You can do really quick weap switch with it
4. Takes less to put on ironsight than no scope (atleast for me)
5. No shakiness with ironsight, like on Scope on Sniper
6. So, rifle is easy :)

Quoted for truth!

Hey Kamphy you can always noscope with the sniper can't you!?

There IS a good accuracy, medium range weapon in the game.

Spy's pistol.

I'm dead serious, I LOVE that gun and I loved the rifles in DoD.

You can actually noscope with sniper, and it is perfectly accurate (as if you had a crosshair)

But because it isnt charged its as powerful as a peashooter.

I know, I own with no scope, but my point is, that it's not effective from far, as rifle is.

Yeah... they might want to add a laser trail to simulate a realistic laser sight. So we can see where we're being lasered from. :P Help me kill MoP and his darn rifle....

Noscoping is fun regardless even if you DO die a bunch.

They should make a no scope ONLY class :) That's the real missing class.
