Who represents us?

How are changes to servers made? Do enough people just complain until they get what they want? What say do we have in these matters? A poll before changes go live would be ideal.

Please no flame, just honest opinions. This was intended to be an IMO thread. So please once again be nice.

While I agree that there needs to be more transparency, running a vote over every matter is not feasible nor required. Everything will grind to a halt if we run a vote about every matter first, votes take weeks if not months to materialize and even after running one we barely capture the opinion of the division as a large chunk does not visit the forums everyday or visits but does not participate. From our experience in running votes, we have seen it normally never reflects facts as only the most opinionated members care to vote and many dedicated members are left out. Even when I was not leadership, my opinion was that things need to move fast rather than grind to a halt for votes to be completed. If you have an opinion, its been stated many times that you need to drop box it, just the fact that I haven’t seen a BF division related drop box post in a while tells me that everyone’s opinion has been counted for. Drop box is for such opinions, because anywhere else it just causes a massive flame war as seen in the last few weeks. That’s my opinion, in the end it’s for the DL’s to decide as they are the decision makers.

I disagree completely....every member deserves a fair say. I understand that would take a little power away from you which could be upsetting but it would make the team/clan as a whole feel like their opinion matters and they are not being run under a complete dictatorship.

The larger and diverse the community, the longer it takes to vote.

Why not make a thread (could even be locked) that you going to change server settings a week before and that concers should be taken to the leadership either in vent or via drop box?

Just have a vote a week before the change. Come on guys think outside the box. This would not be hard to implement and it will raise moral.

Im 50/50 on this. While i kind of agree that ppl should get a vote it may not be ideal for the battlefield division. Its always great to see ppl get a vote on changes but it depends on what changes imo. The thing about battlefield is that there are just so many options to put on a server and the many different opinions of all of us that the chance to have just. 75% majority can be hard. Ive seen a few votes in the past and from what ive seen (after changes were made) they didnt work out. There will always be someone who dislikes changes that others want.

So far i believe we are set pretty good with our all popular server and i believe the best thing is to stick with that one. As for the other server id say its all about testing. Many setups have failed in the past. Im not too sure how our hc aftermath is doing atm but once we get it moved to the new provider we could give another vote a try and see what comes out. That is if the server isnt doing good atm.maybe just go through vent for a few days and see what ppl are interested in and once leadership sorts out what has already failed they could put up a vote with the things left.

But keep in mind there will always be players disliking changes a majority voted for.

I have to agree with killer that having a ton of votes can take a while and would be useless however there are times in which a vote could be nice, such as if a number of people are complaining against a certain change or if a major change is to be made such as changing the server from normal to HC or vice versa.

And in real millitary situations; well way back in WWI and II they had flame throwers. I think flame throwers would be great. At least perfect for people like me who suck at this game and is only good at spraying and praying. Anyway, continue your discussions. Just had to put my 2 cents in about the flame war thing-a-ma-gingie. Just trying to break-up the rhythm here.

I'm with axe and killer on this. Having the whole division vote will take too much time plus half the time people dont even do the polls. By having leadership do this is so much easier and plus it has always been the leadership to decide how we do things not the other way around

My opinions may or may not make a difference. But here it goes!

On another note; hey, I'm getting better at this B3 game. When I first joined this division my rankings were over 300. Just last week I was at 229. Now I'm at 215. Maybe one day I'll be in the top 10.

Anyway, I really don't know how to respond to the situation at hand. I'm for both parties equally. But as I've found out from being part of many other divisions, you will have some people disliking a map, server or rules as others just play along with it. I see where Sennett is coming from and I also see Killers point of view among everyone else's comments on this scenario. It's real tough to make a solid decision and head for one direction only.

Life isn't always a bowl of cherries so to speak. Your going to have a percentage of people disagreeing on certain aspects of a game and it's rules and you'll also have those who may care, but really don't want to voice an opinion and get swept up in all the drama. Like Bart Simpson always says, "Your Damned if you do and your Damned if you don't."

But this is an issue for the DL's and Council Members to decide on and to see which is the best route to take and if it will better the division or cripple it. I wish I had all the answers but I don't. I hope the final decision on solving this problem is a good one and won't hurt or set back this division in any way. B3 is pretty much over with and B4 is on it's way and I'm sure newer issues will surface as we offer B4 to the public. I hope we can resolve these issues swiftly before B4 comes out and prepare to handle any B4 issues as they become available.

I hope I'm making sense to someone out there cause I tend to babble on and sometimes put my foot in my mouth and I don't want to say something to hurt or offend anyone in any way. I'm just here to make as many gaming friends as I can before the Grim Reaper comes knocking on my door.

We do let you guys vote on a fair number of things but sometimes a decision needs to be made quickly and so leadership makes a decision. Also as has been stated there have been times in the past when we do a vote, the changes happen accordingly, and nothing changes. The server stay dead. In those instances, leadership must pander more to the pubs that play in our servers. We try to make you guys happy first but we also need to make the pubs happy otherwise there will be no one to play in the servers.
