I live near the busiest border crossing in the world, and used to go to Mexico several times a month. I'm on the Board of Directors of a charity based in Mexico and still have many contacts and clients there. However, "it's a whole nuther country." I adopted my son in Mexico, and after the adoption was finalized (2001) I haven't been back. Between corruption, bad water (when they say "don't drink the water" they mean it), and demolition derby driving where lane markers are mere suggestions, I'm just not interested.
I have considered a vacation in New Zealand (one of my former clients was the Team New Zealand America's Cup racing team) but the idea of spending 12 hours in an Aluminum tube with the huddled masses just doesn't thrill me as a way to relax.
