TF2 update 7/10/2013

Ok that it....I was coming to term with the dead ringer debuff, but why did they mess with the set bonuses? WHATS THE POINT TO THE SAHARAN SPY SET IF PEOPLE CAN HEAR YOU!!! This gave me another reason not to use the power jack.

But some of those changes were needed, alot wern't.
Thank god valve didn't notice the exploits I use on egypt, that would be bad if they got rid of it.

Apparently this is the point of the Saharan Spi set now:

Seriously, a large dust cloud whenever you taunt with it equipped.

/facepalm

Guys, Watch as these set hats drop in price.
I can see backpack.tf falling prices right now.

Honestly, I hate this update with a passion.

Why? Change. I don't like change.

Now that I have carefully gone over every single line in the patch, there is really only one line I was VERY unhappy with.

They added minicrits to the Escape Plan, to make it like the GRU.

My first thought is.....why? Why would you do that? It's like, the best melee ever (Barring the axtinguisher) so why would you do this? Why?

My second thought is......if you are trying to make it like the GRU, you have failed miserably. Unlike the GRU, the escape plan requires you to lose health to run fast; that is the tradeoff. The GRU requires no such thing. You pull out the GRU and you run faster. That's all there is to it. The escape Plan, however, now requires you to expose yourself to MORE damage while there is already SO MUCH HEALTH TAKEN AWAY. WHY.

My Third thought......Valve made me very angry today.....

Fourth thought? Out of 60+ new items, I only liked 5. It's like they shipped so many items to make up for their ridiculous tweaking.

Rant over.

Because it's the best melee weapon ever.

The point of the update was to encourage variation. Adding another downside to the Escape Plan gives people reason to use other options, while not making the Escape Plan entirely useless.

I personally Hate most of the item updates!!!!

I was so mad when i found out they destroyed the dead ringer and saharan spy set. but not only that but all other polycount sets :(

I was so mad that i created a protest group which any of you who dislike this update should join

either search "Protest The Team Fortress 7/10/2013 Update" in the groups section or use this link: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/tf2updateprotest
(if it works)

I doubt i will have much fun with spy for a while :(

Losing the +1 health regen of the Medieval Medic set is a small bummer. But compared to the new greatly buffed Quick Fix it's a totally worthwhile tradeoff. The upgraded Quick Fix might as well be a totally new weapon.

Also, have you seen the upgraded L'Etranger? +40% cloak duration and +15 cloak on hit. C'mon, that's a heck of a bone to throw to spies.

Except im talking about the set in whole they ruined. I spent time crafting how much it was worth in metal and then trading for it. I was quite annoyed at this because an increase in cloak does not make up for a silenced deadringer

Egypt-

Players can no longer build on top of arches and high ledges.

Hmm, there goes that engie tactic of wrangling up to the second point arch. This might be a good thing.

Liberty Launcher:
Removed: 25% reduced clip size penalty
Added: 25% reduced damage penalty

NO.

Wrangler:
Slightly reduced accuracy of manually-controlled sentry at long range

Ehhh...

Regarding the set nerfs...

Mixed feelings. Don't think it's fully fair, but meh.

Now that more than 24 hours have passed since the update hit, is anyone else not finding any meaningful difference in the amount of Dead Ringer spies running around? Not surprising, but if Valve was attempting to take the position that a high rate of usage means that item should be moderately nerfed to discourage its use, I don't see it happening with the Dead Ringer.

If anyone's play style changed significantly, it's the Scout. Half of the Special Delivery set is now entirely cosmetic, the Peppergun is even more useless than before, and the Winger practically has him moonjumping.

All it changes for the DR is that Spies can't tank crits anymore, and Pyros and Heavies can kill them slightly quicker.

In other news, the L'etranger suddenly became super viable. 12 second cloak on the DR's pretty awesome.

Indeed.

I gave up the ambassador for that weapon specifically because of it's additional cloak time. Gives me and most spies a greater chance of backstabbing without anyone assuming there's a spy nearby them. I already know wize is going to depend on that a lot, but I don't at the same time.

Still, valve tried to make it balanced and I believe most of it is fair. I intend to use l'etranger on larger maps instead of short ones like egypt. Now for the scout, I still don't see a big change on the shortstop. It says, "Increase in push force taken from damage and airblast", but I don't seem to notice it at all.

The only big change for scout was the milkman set becoming useless. The pushback on shortstop can save your life though. I still prefer scattergun over the rest of them. In my opinion, this is one of the most balanced multiplayer games out there... Except for degreaser flare gun pyros lol

STAR_ just put out a video today where he was playing Scout with the Shortstop, being pocketed by a QF medic. The +healing made him pretty tough to kill. Fun for pubs, I imagine... though it must be said his pocket medic was an undercover Ruwin.

And I haven't noticed a big difference with the DR unless I'm caught out by a pyro or a spun up heavy. The odd crocket or sticky trap will get me, too. Other than that, no difference. Still running Amby/DR in most situations.
